Bob Lutz's Garage......
Lutz is a real car guy.... just listen to how he knows history and minutia.
Years ago, I asked my buddy, who works for Ford, what it was like to work with car guys. My friend is a real car guy with a 991, '65(?) Corvette, numerous things with engines, and of course, his constant revolving inventory of free Ford-supplied transportation. I had a belief that his coworkers all had stuffed garages and various DIY projects going one. He looked back at me with a bit of disgust..... he said Ford hires gaduate students with marketing degrees.... interest in cars is not a requirement. Ugh....!
Peace

I had friends get engineering jobs with GM right out of undergrad, that could care less about cars. But they had 4.0 or close to it GPA's, and that's what got them hired. That was circa 1984, so yes I can see why GM was turning out crappy cars....people designing and making the cars....could really care less about cars. So we got crappy interiors, brittle plastic, and lots of stickers and body cladding.

It may not appear to be car related, but the skill, commitment and budget blow out is no different. Start at the beginning and you'll see that this guy is not different to a lot of people on this forum.
