Default Michelin super sport alternatives for 997

The threads on my 997's rear tires (265/40zr18) are low and I need to change them.

Went to costco and was told that the super sports are discontinued.

I loved them as they are quieter than the SP2.

I was wondering what people recommend as an alternative?

If you like those tires then you probably just want to go with their successor which is the PS4s.

other very reasonable options to consider in summer performance tires would be the Continental extreme contact, the Bridgestone so4 and the Pirelli p zero.

this assumes you're looking for a tire that is similar to the pilot Super Sport which is basically a maximum performance summer tire that has a very decent tread life and can be used in the rain without too much fear.

Tirerack still has the PSS in stock. The PS4S replaces it though and is a better tire.

Hey I'm in the market for a set too. I'm on the west coast, and when it rain it pours! With all the rain we do see, do you feel that there might be a better tire to be considering?

Thanks

I have ps4s on my 997 c2. Yes, they are very quiet and comfy.

part of the redesign on the pss to the ps4s was to improve wet performsnce. You can' go wrong with it. The continental extreme is also very well regarded for wet performance and probably a great second choice as it may give up some road manners slightly to the ps4s

I haven't got a set of the new 4s' yet but I have driven probably about 4-5 sets of super sports on 3 different 911s and I live in Florida. We can get some CRAZY rain and I never had an issue. They were even impressive on track. Can't wait to get a set of 4S tires.
