I need some suggestions/help. I am trying to replace my slave cylinder while the transmission is in the car. The car is on a lift. If you have done this, you know the holes for the two mounting bolts for the slave cylinder are not visible (at least they weren’t to me). We had a very difficult time, but finally got the bolts secured only to discover the end of the slave was not properly seated on the clutch arm. We found out when the clutch pedal was pushed and the piston blew out of cylinder followed by the brake fluid. So it all came off again. I am aware that this works best if the bleeder valve is open so that the piston can be pushed.

So am I missing something? Is there any easier way.

Thanks to Bruce and especially to Cole Scrogham who somehow contorted himself enough to do the job. Got the slave cylinder in properly, but that was not an easy job. Note to self - next time install the slave cylinder when the transmission is out. Very difficult to reach these mounting bolts.

That was our objective - to avoid having to bleed the clutch. In the end we had to remove the hard feed line from the slave, un clip it from its retainer, and bleed the system anyway. Oh well. Live and learn.
