. . Lol, you perhaps were too busy arguing with seller's explanation about whether his 2007 engine really tanked due to IMS to notice price.

It was an honest question. Great car for a mid-low 30k purchase.
You must be a lawyer. I meet a lot of miserable folks in our fine profession.

Roller is worth $10k max. I wouldn't pay more than $8k. It's a $35k used car that needs $20k of work (on the light side). It would make no sense to buy the car and do all the work just to end up spending the same money that you would have buying a car that didn't need work.

No idea brother. I could only fund a link to the original ad. I tried to pick it up for $28k and was going to put an aero kit on it and buckets and a roll cage in it after it had sat for several months. The car was on consignment for this listing. I don't know owner's name.
A later listing in the $30s had the receipts for the engine and F77 package.

That's a different one. Doug's was silver.

I just went through this. There is no way to get a rebuild for $25k. That’s the price of the rebuilt long block and the core charge. You still have to install all of the accessories on the long block, and r&r the engine. Add the “while you’re in there” stuff and you are going to spend $30K minimum.
Sorry to be the bad news guy. But I just went t rough this last month. Chose to let the car go as a roller and move on.

It would be pretty uncommon for a large IMS bearing car to have an IMS failure, but it is a little more likely if it has been on track. With some cold climate use, it might be more likelyvtgat you gave a scored bore or it could be a failed tensioner paddle and you're hearing a timing chain rub or something like that. Don't think the worst until you know more. Its probably not an IMS failure or it wouldn't have made it to the shop under its own power.

Any thoughts on the value of a c2s 6 speed with a blown (but rebuild-able) motor? 35,000 miles. GT Silver coupe with sport chrono, Bose system, and heated seats. I've added LED lights and H&R lowering springs!
It drove to the garage where it is parked but makes a terrible noise. We have a few things to check out but we are not feeling good about the situation.
Asking for a friend!!

My '05 base's engine succumbed to bore scoring in the low 60s. My extended warranty specificed a used engine, which fortunately they couldn't locate a correct one at the time, so they pitched in that amount and I paid up the difference toward a RND remanufactured engine. I like my car and have no desire for a later or more powerful model, and I have faith the RND upgrades (I also got the IMS Solution put in) probably make this one as durable if not more than a 9A1 or maybe even a Mezger. So as a long-term keeper, it all made sense to me. But if I had the urge for a newer model, or a Turbo or GT3 etc, then I should have just waited for a used engine to come up, then off the car and move on.

Are there any difference with the engines and options between the 05 - 08 997.1?
