Opinions wanted please!
Hey everyone! I've been looking for a 997 C2S for quite a while now and found one in Miami that I'm quite fond of. It doesn't have a whole lot of history that I can find but it seems like it's been taken care of pretty well from my conversations with the owner. It seems that he has been having it serviced at RS-1 / Rennsport-One. Apparently the previous owner was getting Blackstone reports and his shop recommended doing the IMS bearing because of some elevated levels in the oil to the tune of $6100. The current owner does not have any record of this, however, and RS-1 has been doing Blackstone reports since and everything looks good. My question to you guys is, does the lack of physical records tell me to walk away from this or should I investigate some more because the current maintenance (last 3 years or so) seems to be in order? The current owner is a RL and 6speed member but doesn't post much, if that matters at all... I don't know. I'm in Phoenix so it's not as simple as just going to look at the car and visiting the shop where it's been maintained. Thanks guys!
Here is the current spec of the car:

I wouldnt worry too much about it, if thats the exact spec youre looking for i would try to neogtiate 2-3k off and just get the ims bearing done for peace of mind

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that a much bigger deal on the 06+ motors? Also, I'm not as worried about the IMS specifically as much as I am just past history in general.
Thanks!
Thanks!

i personally wouldnt care as long as the car is in good condition right this moment. I would get a pre purchase inspection by a shop that knows these cars and has not serviced this car before just to get a 3rd party opinion.

photos?? thats steep price for 06 S - also can't trust carfax - many 997's w/updated front bumpers have been in some sort of front end collision. any repairs not gone thru insurance DO NOT show up on carfax.
I just bought my 2005 997S w/63K miles and very good PPI for $30K
lets see some photos

My 2005 997 "S" is a manual transmission - I wouldn't be caught dead in a tiptronic. Atlas grey w/full black leather interior - Excellent condition in and out - heated seats, upgraded OEM sound system and PASM.
Occasionally good deals come up - Research and patience is key - In my case the seller wanted to buy an Aston Martin which I believe was on order - This combined with winter season resulted in a great deal for me. PPI showed good results.
**Never buy without a full PPI - It can also be used as negotiating tool

if u decide to move forward on this car try not to pay more than $33-$34K but i'd dicuss price after PPI
**have PPI done and make sure they check the workmanship/fitment/paintwork of the aftermarket front end - they can check for any previous accident damage/etc - don't trust the carfax
