Default Slight spuddering at highways speeds with slight push of gas pedal, fine floored

2006 C4 997.1
I notice a "spudder" / hesitation with I have my foot on the gas slightly. Goes away when fully depressed. I dont seem to notice it until I am full speed on the highway.
Ideas ?

I had the spark plugs done 24 months ago.
I just got a new battery (last week)
I'm due for an oil change.
No codes ... and I dont have an OBD2 scanner.

Plugs are 2 years old (I thought it was 1). All of them were done.

Fuel pump ... has never been done I dont think.
I'm at 71,000 kms.

The spuddering might happen as well when making a hard right to get on the highway. But the spudder is brief.

Fuel pump ?
  • the fuel filter could be clogged,
  • or the fuel pump is failing
TODO:

Watch for "black/blue puffs of smoke when it misfires (VERY noticeable on higher boost)"
inspect the plug wires where they connect to the plugs see if one or more of the wells have oil in them
See if Engine warms and it goes away.
See if one ignition coil end packed with white corrosion.

A list of things that can cause a hesitation / spuddering at low throttle

the exhaust and fuel system.
Leak in Exhaust Manifold
Worn Seals or Gaskets
Failing Catalytic Converter
Malfunctioning Oxygen Sensors
Dirty Fuel Injectors
Bad or Dirty Spark Plugs
Dirty Mass Airflow Sensor
Vacuum Leak
Buildup in Throttle Body:

Fastest and easiest thing to try first is to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes (don't latch the frunk!) which will cause the fuel trims and TPS sensor to recalibrate. Then when you restart it, go for a normal drive and see if it's any different. If not, pull the intake and clean the throttle body, especially where the throttle plate meets the body when closed.
This looks like a good resource:

Does it offer any clues that the issue doesnt happen when the car is floored, but is only noticeable with I am light on the gas pedal ?

I only notice it at 100km/60mph in 4th at 3-4,000. Usually 4000 rpm ?

I thought it might go a way with a new tank of gas but it didnt.
I never drained the gas, before adding more.

Daily driver.
Only a week or so I suspect.

It might happen as well when making a hard right to get on the highway.

Clean up the battery cable terminal and the smaller ground there and tighten it down. I'm curious to see if this resolves your issue.

The hesitation is very short. Putting the gas pedal down further solves the issue.

Good idea.
Thanks.

I'd like to purchase one of those scan tools.
Any suggestions ?
Im not a heavy DIY guy but I think they can be helpful.
