Default Door Sill Scuff Plate

I have searched to no avail. The "Carrera" metal insert in the driver's side door sill scuff plate is trashed, and I wish to replace it. However, it does not appear that this piece, which is the actual metal insert into the plastic sill, is sold separately. Questions - has anyone replaced this insert? If so, what was the part number, and what process did you use? I assume it's glued into the recess or two sided tape is used. A picture (not from my car) is attached to show what I am talking about. I have an 05 C2.
Thanks!

There is a tutorial someplace on removing that long black piece (not the insert) I could be wrong, but I am not sure you can buy just that silver part? If someone has that removal guide it would be helpful, as that black sill part gets scuffed so easily. I tried looking on Suncoast but got confused and gave up.

The "Carrera" metal insert is held in place by trim adhesive. It can be removed using techniques similar to what you would do to debadge a car--using a heat gun and fishing line. When mine got scuffed I couldn't find anywhere that sold just the inserts, so I looked around and found two good options. You can pull the insert and remove the metal--its about the thickness of tin foil and then paint the insert following the directions on numerous threads on this forum regarding refurbishing the scuff plate. Using this method the scuff plate is uniform in color. The other option is to remove the insert and wrap with vinyl in your choice of color.

That's the same image the OP posted and the entire scuff plate/sill. He wants just the plate.

Don't think it's that expensive why bang your head on the wall looking for the insert?I suggest Just buy the whole side sill.

It's not about the money. I just like to repair rather than replace when feasible. Apparently not here, so I'll replace. I did see the DIY, and the job looks pretty simple.

Another alternative is to do what I did, which is to remove the door sill altogether. I was going to replace it and after removing the old one I thought it looked much better so I left it like that. I never liked how cheap and plasticky the door sill looked.
