997.1 S Vs 997.2 non S
#16
I have been trying to buy one for about 9 months, yes I am a bit picky. Had one all ready to go then I read on these forums about the Over Rev report. Got the report back with hits in 3,4 and 5 range. Thanks to everyone I was able to avoid the potential disaster. The prices for an 06-08 S 6MT Cab vary quite a bit and seem high. Seems like there are better "deals" on Non S .2s. That was the reason for my initial question. With negligible difference in performance between the two, I am definitely going after a .2.
woah woah woah, your upsetting my irrational insistance on an S. I swear it feels faster!

Good choice opting for a base .2 over a .1 in my opinion... On top of nearly identical performance numbers as pointed out above, the .2 engine feels smoother to me, should be more reliable, and the .2 interior and exterior changes look better in my opinion too.
Good luck in your search!

I have a 2009 997.2 PDK non-S.
Very happy with it as a daily driver and have really enjoyed it when pushed in the Texas Hill Country.
I had looked at 997.1 MT S model and although I enjoyed it and it was a bit cheaper, the DFI motor, no IMS issues, and PDK pushed me to the 997.2.
The base 997.2 with PDK is a far better car than I am a driver.
