Default $525 for new battery at dealership

Based in NJ, I noticed while starting my car that the battery might be getting old. With my car being about 7.5 years old, I now that I replaced the battery 3-4 year ago which I will verify when I look through my files

I called the dealership to see what the rate is for the new battery installed and was told $525. From memory, I thought I had paid in the $250 range last time.

Anybody replace their battery lately?

The Bosch H7 AGM https://www.pepboys.com/product/details/838845/00354 is on sale ay PepBoys for $165. Installation is straightforward (lots of instructions here on Rennlist) or have an indy install.
N.B. with a little extra effort (instructions also here on Rennlist) you can use the slightly larger H8 size. https://www.pepboys.com/product/details/838838/00354
I installed the H8 about 3 years ago, no issues and the terminals are in the proper location and the drain tube connects perfectly.

I replaced my original battery with an Interstate. Picked it up from Firestone and installed it myself. Saved $200 from what the dealer wanted to install one.

Anybody that would pay a dealer over $500 to swap a battery needs to have their head examined. It's a battery! It's in the front, right under a plastic cover that pops off. It's a 10 minute job on a bad day. Do as LexVan says, go to one of those places and spend $150 or so, grab a simple tool set for another $10 if you don't have one, and pull the old and insert the new.

My Indy sold me a battery for $175 and installed it for free as a courtesy. What dealer is this? I’d like to know for future reference so I can avoid them like the Plague.

Did you call the police and inform them of this attempted robbery?

When I needed a battery I got one from Walmart that was a direct fit for around $160 and installed it myself.

It is what it is. It's a Porsche dealer, so it will be expensive.

Frankly, I wouldn't even waste the time calling the dealership to ask what it costs to replace the battery--not for a Porsche, not for a Kia. It's going to be marked up terribly and the labor rate will be stupid-high.

It's one of the easiest jobs you can do on your car. My 15 year old could do it.

make sure your battery is the correct size so it fits into the tray. i bought a battery that was too short so it would slide around in the tray.

I bought mine at Costco for my 911 997.2. three years ago, I believe its a Kirkland H7, vent pipe included.

Would not hesitate in buying another for any of my personal or corporate vehicles.

Thinking you might want to invest in a battery tender also:

Porsche will also not warranty their batteries if the car is driven less than 12,000 miles per year.
