For me, a former Muscle Car and Harley guy, it was a fairly recent drive buy. Had a nice 2014 BMW 328i (still do) and a 2011 BMW 128i cabriolet (traded in for the 911). Then I passed a dealership with a 2016 Boxster and said Wow, that looks cool. Test drove it and loved it. I guess I was hooked but didn't know it. A month or so went by and I starting looking into them. Liked the 911 better. Looked at a few and drove them, and I was a goner. Finally bought my current ride in November. Love it. So, what lead you to buy your first Porsche? How many have you had? Current ride(s)? RJ

I was at a hospital parking lot circa 76. Lots of Stingrays and 911's (doctors). That was it. Barley could wipe my own ****, But I knew greatness and knew I would have one.......and I did.

A good salesman. Went to a dealer to look at a Lexus they took in trade. While they were "bringing it up from the back" he suggested a test drive of a Cayenne Turbo. Never drove that Lexus.

About two years ago, a work colleague died of a heart attack on his office floor, six doors down from mine. He was my age - 57 at the time - slim, active and seemingly fit. He had been talking of the home he bought for retirement and how much he was looking forward to it. I had been toying with the idea of buying a sports car and starting HPDE since taking a car control class through BMW about 8 months before. After his death, I re-evaluated life and such, hastened my searched, and got a HELOC. I put together a lost of potential cars, including the 997.1 and saw my C2S on a dealer on-line ad one morning shortly thereafter. Left the office at 11:30 AM that day and proceeded to the dealer. Called the boss at 2:30 that afternoon to tell him: "I "ain't comin' back today...got some paper work to tend to!". I've never regretted it for even a second.

In 1985 I bought a new Corvette after owning a 1975 and a 1978 version. I was hopeful for improvements in construction, ride and overall performance.
What a disappointment--I could not stand the rattles and after 2 years and 9000 miles I sold the 'vette and bought a new 1987 Carrera. I am now on my 3rd 911 and
can't conceive of driving anything else

Had a Jaguar XF in for service so drove the loaner down to the Pittsburgh Porsche dealer just to look. The next day (Saturday) brought my honey to the dealer and had her sit in a Cayman R. She screamed no way and had heads turning. Her voice really carries. So I point her towards the Panamera sitting outside the showroom window, now she was smiling. Two years later I traded it for a PGTS. It’s the same color as the first Panamera. She didn’t notice the new one for two weeks (she thought I had wash the old one) but approved once she looked it over. Two years later I won the PCA drawing for the 60th Club Coupe. I still have it. Having started my working career buying Chevys, I still think it crazy I have these cars.

In 1968 I was driving a 62 Triumph TR3. Was tired of "issues" with British cars (had an MGA before that) and found a nice 356 S 90 coupe for sale near me in LA. It was silver with black interior - loved that car! Had to sell it in 71 when I went into the Army. Wish I still had it.
