I put the 997 away. Not because it can't cope with winter, but because I dislike incompetent drivers sliding into it. The 981 is the wife's daily driver. It has -1 wheels and snows on it and is fine until you hit the really deep stuff.

I don't drive my 911 in snow, rain or on salty roads. That's what my Golf S is for. Yes, with its 15 inch wheels.
I will take the Porsche out in winter if the roads are clean and the temp is 40F+. I still need to watch for those potholes with those 30 series tires, though!

It's not the snow that scares me. It's sand and salt.
While much of the car is shrouded, there is still a lot of steel hardware, which will not fair well in the salt. If you've ever work on your exhaust...imagine EVERY BOLT on your car behaving like that. That's what salt does.
And the sand... on a car that's so low... I can't afford a respray every other year... nor a new windshield.

I would drive mine but have the BMW sport wagon for winter. The C4S still gets winter shoes since I drive it in the cold weather before the salty slush season.
With the snow this week, the 911 is tucked away with the M3 for the next 3 months unless spring comes sooner.

It's a German Car
Does it snow in Germany? I think so. Do they park their P-Cars in winter? I don't think so. The car was built to drive in Germany... where it snows. I have been passed by more than one Porsche on the autobahn in the snow while driving my piece of ... well rental car. If you want to baby your p-Car, do so. It's your car. You wanna drive your car in the winter because you love driving your P-Car? Join my club. Rain, snow, heat, nice... I love driving my Porsche. And, it gets a nice bath when it gets dirty. And, it handles snow really well. It's a German car. Built for it!
