Default Ordered Fister w/o core exchange

While I await my Fister exhaust I'm wondering if I did the right thing. I paid $650 premium for the right to keep my non-pse exhaust. Fister says they will honor the credit for the core at any time in the future. Is there any value in retaining the stock muffler? Seems like they might be increasingly harder to come by. Perhaps future buyer would want the car without fister? Maybe I keep the non-pse and reinstall + part-out fister when the time comes to sell the car?

I wouldn't mind taking a $650 credit for the core. But feel like they're few and far between. Advice is appreciated.

PS. Cannot wait to get this thing installed. She's just too quiet in current state.

This. Just do it and get what you can from them. No sense in them hanging around unless you truly think you’ll need to return to stock.

You are assuming that the majority of owners either mod their P-car or are RL members or both. One hell of an assumption IMHO.

You’ll never go back. Once you’re happy w the new setup send ‘em and get the credit. Besides they take up a lot of storage space.

Is it a 997.2 or 997.1 , if a .2 , send them for the money, as you still have the center muffler

It’s a 997.2

Oddly enough, I feel a strangle moral obligation to send in the core. Firster seem like nice folks.

Since you have a .2 car and assuming you still have the center muffler, chances are you'll find it too quiet even with the Fisters installed. The center muffler on the .2 cars is VERY restrictive (and heavy) so my guess is that you'll end up doing what most .2 owners unhappy with the exhaust note do........replace the center muffler with crossover pipes. That combined with Fister, Gundo or PSE will get most to where they want to be so you still need the Fisters.

Send them in. Used OEM mufflers that aren't PSE are only worth a couple hundred dollars and you could post a WTB ad today and get 10 responses from those who've upgraded and are looking to get their stock ones out of the garage for any reasonable amount of money.

Good decision - you can use the same box and packing materials to return them.

when I bought my car from the previous owner, it already had fabspeed exhaust and he had thrown away the stock exhaust bc it was taking up space. I really dont think you need to hang on to the stock exhaust.

That makes me wonder. What does Foster do with the cores?

They weld the tube in between inlet and outlet and sell them again as the Fister exhaust.

OP, you made the right choice sending the cores to Fister. There is NO WAY that you are going to put the stock ones back on. Besides, that extra money is going to be useful for the center muffler bypass
