Default Wear driving gloves at times?

I know many non-performance driving guys think driving gloves are pretentious. But, after recently getting my first Porsche, it seems to make sense. Especially under spirited driving. I tend to have sweaty palms while driving anyhow, so I think I will get some. Use them? No way? RJ

I wear them. I don't care if it's pretentious. It's comfortable.

Maybe pretentious for some. I wear gloves with any car and it has nothing to do with looks.

Makes sense. Can use them with my BMW 328i too. RJ

I only wear gloves if it's cold, and that doesn't happen much down here in Tejas. If you like them, get them. It may help keep your steering wheel, which I'm assuming is leather, in better shape if you have sweaty palms over the long haul...T

Nope, though with an alcantara wheel, I could see where they might be needed, which is another reason I don't have an alcantara wheel.

I do, and it saves the leather on the steering wheel from getting gumned up from my oily hands and the climate ***** and buttons won’t get scratched up either. It’s a free country wear gloves if you want to.

Those are what I ordered on Amazon last night. Compromised with the half finger ones. Cool.

I do wear them, especially when I anticipate spirited driving. Also, I wear them to protect the wheel leather - my 78 928 is all original, and I do not want the steering wheel leather to wear out due to the sweat from my hands generated from spirited driving.

I wear driving gloves all the time. I feel it gives me a better grip on the steering wheel, especially my old 911 which is "sans-P/S".

Good point about the steering wheel.

About the time I purchased my 2000 Boxster S in 2000, I had too much wine and purchased some driving gloves from a leather shop in Milan..... I can't wear them, I feel like a dufus. I put them on a few times when it was cold but they do nothing for warmth.

I don't think gloves are needed with these padded steering wheels... the old wood/metal ones were different and gloves could relieve some of the stress in your hands from the grip they provided.

Peace

I wear driving gloves in my GT4 since my hands also tend to sweat while driving and want to keep the wheel and shifter looking good. I do get a bit self conscious so I don’t button them and gives them a more casual accessory look. At least that’s what I think! Others, well it don’t really matter!
