Need your opinion: Wrap color

Need your opinion: Wrap color
I'm embarrassed and scared to even post this. I've been struggling and procrastinating on this for nearly a year. I can't decide what color to wrap. I know its highly subjective but I'm hoping this will reduce the self-inflicted brain damage.
- Car is a 997.1 S, lowered with wheels and TA rockers
- I drive it 3-4 days per week
- Black on black, but the current paint has some fading from being left in the sun. Looks great from 10 feet away, but you can see some minor chips
- I have a GT3 CUP front bumper I am going to install
- I like the Riviera blue GT3, and always planned to go with that color
- I plan to wrap it myself
- Is wrapping a 12-year-old, 70XXX mile, winter beater Riviera Blue douchey?
- Is wrapping it matte Riviera Blue even douchier?
- Are matte wraps played out?
- I'm open to other colors. I was also thinking Slate Grey

Rivera Blue would be great.

Nothing wrong with doing the wrap regardless of the age and mileage. Go with what you like. I'd personally be looking for a color that accomplished my taste but also would be a rare color for a 911. So the grey would be out. However, it's your car and your money so do what you like!

I agree! Im not trying to look factory. I feel like if I'm going through the trouble of wrapping it should be rare or different.

Can you help me figure out:
- Is wrapping a 12-year-old, 70XXX mile, winter beater Riviera Blue douchey?
- Is wrapping it matte Riviera Blue even douchier?
- Are matte wraps played out?
- I'm open to other colors. I was also thinking Slate Grey
yes.
yes. Matte looks especially bad on 911s.
I like the grey. Less attention seeking that Riv Blue.

+1 to that. Go with something fun. I've wrapped a 13 year old car a few times and when the wrap came off the 2nd time it pulled paint from my drive side door. Not saying it'll happen to yours, but just be wary of long term use. Let us know what type of wrap you end up with!

Are you a professional film installer?
If not - I suggest getting a pro. It's not a DIY job.
Good luck. My vote is for Slate Gray. More "stealth". Less common. Probably easier to live with. Maybe choose one or the other, and after the wrap starts to look really bad - change it to whatever color you didn't choose first time around.
Post pics of before / after.
I helped a friend who wanted to DIY clear film on his Murcielago. It didn't go well and he ended up having little bubbles everywhere and decided to remove it.
He also tried the spray apply type but it had drips / runs / thick and thin parts that looked "wavy". He was meticulous with his prep and following directions but it looked awful.
He ended up removing it and found that any places that had a "thin" application were very difficult to remove.
The film used to wrap a car to change color is thinner, and maybe easier to work with (as opposed to paint protection film) but there is still a lot of technique to a good installation.
After seeing a couple DIY attempts by amateurs it's something I would never attempt.

I second needmoregarage, I tried wrapping a car, and I have tons of install experience with cut vinyl (windows, wall ect.), and it was a mess, it stretched in weird ways and would resist moving in certain directions. I had a heat gun and that just stretched it out further, and it does not snap back, it's not the most forgiving material.

- Is wrapping a 12-year-old, 70XXX mile, winter beater Riviera Blue douchey? No way! As others said, if you like it, go for it. Who cares what other people think. RB is an awesome color, and if it is a winter beater, I think a bright, spiffy color will put you in a better mood for the commute. That alone makes it worthwhile.
- Is wrapping it matte Riviera Blue even douchier? I'm afraid it is. Just kidding. Same answer as above.
- Are matte wraps played out? I'm not hip enough to answer this!
- I'm open to other colors. I was also thinking Slate Grey . Grey? There's already a ton of grey, white and black Porsches out there. If I were going to do a wrap, go bold, but that's just my opinion. Colors that I have seen online or in person that I think look awesome: any of the Porsche blues - Voo Doo, Mexico, Riviera, Meissen, etc., Viper Green, Speed Yellow. I saw a pumpkin orange GT3 (maybe GT3RS) a while back on RL and it looked great. I've also seen a 911R in medium ivory that I thought was super cool, but then I'm partial to that color.
