Notes on Child Seats including the $500 Porsche Junior Seat

1. The $500 Porsche Junior Seat is a rebranded Britax Roemer (Roemer is a German brand acquired by Britax and not sold in the US) made in Germany. The closest model is Britax Roemer Safefix plus. (http://www.britaxemea.com/car-seats/safefix-plus/) The Safefix Plus is as expensive as the Porsche Junior, if not a little more! No Porsche tax here. There is a cupholder for it, but has to be ordered from Europe.
2. The best forward facing seat for toddlers by far I've found is the Britax Marathon Clicktight. It leaves way more room for the kid and the seat doesn't have to lean forward nearly as far. Also, you can move the passenger seat fairly far back when you need passengers and don't have the kid. About $250 and the cushion lifts up to access seat belts so it's easy to mount and works well with the peculiar seat belt receivers that our 997s have.

I ended buying the $500 Porsche Junior Seat a couple of months ago. It fits pretty well in my 997.2. The logic was that in a few years I can sell it for $250 (they seem to fly off the classifieds) which puts me $250 net out of pocket about the same as the Britax :)

That's true, but I prefer the Britax, fits better, had to put extra foam in to get the Junior to sit straight, and that base sticks out so far that the passenger seat can't move back very far when the baby seat is unoccupied. To be clear, I have both the Porsche Junior and the Britax Marathon. I put the Junior in the Cayenne, hence my desire for a cupholder.

Any photos of the seats installed?

Interesting that it fits better! Out of curiosity, did you take the seat back or bottom out with your Britax?

I’d be interested in photos as well. Thanks.

Here are a couple so you can see how the Britax sits in my 997 with the front seat all the way forward. The cushion lifts up for easy access to the belt and it is very secure, can't budge in any direction. Top tether also in place.https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...f7680af46.jpeg

Really appreciated! And is this a Roundabout Clicktight, to be clear? Any idea on the other Britax clicktight options like the Boulevard, etc?

My daughter has been asking me to go for a ride in the "blue race car". This looks like a good purchase for both of us. Thanks for sharing.

Here's a quick pick from inside my garage (it's dark right now)https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...b4abadc85b.jpg
. Will try to take some better ones tomorrow during the day. Passenger seat is all the way forward by the way.

Can I ask the kids ages? Mine is close to 3 and wondering how well a 3-5 year old does in a 997.

EDIT: You were right! It's a Marathon Clicktight. Going to edit the other messages to limit confusion.

Yep, Marathon Clicktight. I haven't tried the Roundabout, but definitely curious as I believe the Roundabout is 2 inches shallower, but I wanted the Clicktight capability. My kid is 30 lbs, 37 inches tall. Plenty of height left and I think both seats are good to 65 lbs, though I'd go to a booster by then because that frees up more space.

Please come back to Rennlist and tell us which booster to get too :)

Here's the Clicktight killer feature. Cushion flips up for easy belt routing. You really can't go wrong with either seat but you can see the Porsche seat has an extension below the cushion that limits legroom for the child and rearward mobility on the front seat. If you see the Euro model, it's there for a swing out brace that is removed on the Porsche branded seat.

And here's the Porsche Junior in the Cayenne. I really like it here as the LATCH mount is the easiest and most secure I've used. Also the strong frame on the Porsche seat means no top tether is required (even says this in the manual), so it's the seat of choice for my wife's Stingray, or any front seat with an airbag disable.

Looks like neither SF911TT nor I have removed the rear seats. I tried it a bit but realized that a subwoofer is a poor brace in a rear end collision. Not worth it. You could remove the bottom cushion but I found that the depression is such that you don't gain that much and you lose some stability.

Going backwards in time- if you have an infant the Baby Jogger City Mini Zip is a full featured stroller that fits in the frunk of all 997s, including the awd ones. Use it with the Mountain Buggy Protect seat (rearward facing) and Cybex adapters for a full travel system that fits in your p-car. This is all obtained through lots of trial and error (noticing that a friend's Baby Jogger seat matched the Cybex receptacles) and finding out that the Cybex Aton, while a lovely seat, is too small for a nearly 2 year old toddler. (adapters here: )
