I rented a 911 from Hertz in MIA a couple of years back. It was a rainy first couple days I had it, then it turned nice. When I returned the car the attendant asked why it was so clean, I said I washed it when the rain stopped, I can’t drive a dirty 911. He smiled and said thanks. The wife was fine with me washing it, she was in a local mall shopping. The car wash cost a whole bunch less than her shopping trip.

With the added benefit of hearing our cars in a confined space.

She'll get used to it and start allocating plenty of "parking" time into the schedule.

If we're talking about the car in your avatar then I'm breaking into it even in a church parking lot.

You guys are amateurs. I recently saw a older man park a Corvette in a end space at a busy mall, and then tip a shopping cart over in the open space next to his car. Surely a new twist on the ‘parking in two spaces gambit’.

My wife now asks me to drop her at the front door anytime we go to a parking lot because she knows I’m headed to the back row!

You're not insane. I would do the same thing (and my wife thinks I'm insane). One day we went out and parked in a lot - completely empty. We come back an hour or so later only to find a car parked right next to me....rest of the lot is empty. Even my wife admitted that looked intentional.

You can't have nice things because people suck!

Haha, I recently bought a new Corvette GrandSport and joined a few Corvette groups and I can vouch for this. They have serious discussions about parking, it's a very important topic for them lol. I do the same thing though (minus the shopping cart not there yet)

Technically, none of us behaving this way is "insane" since by definition, that means abnormal behavior, but since so many of us are all doing that, it's the other people that don't care and just park by the door that are insane.

Feel better?

Reading these responses reassured me. Yes I’m crazy but at least I’m not alone.

Normal. Insane is when you choose to leave and go somewhere else rather than park in a less than ideal spot.
