Default Ext. warranty expiring, what should be checked?

2006 997S, 79 K miles. I have an appointment at the dealer to give my car a well-baby check up before the extended warranty expires. What should I have them pay special attention to? This warranty is a good one, covers more than most-- not wear items of course.

-IMS/RMS was done with clutch about two years ago at 60K miles.

-Water pump was replaced (again) a few months ago

Thanks

Make sure BOTH horns are operating. Check for a voltage drop that foretells an eventual hot-start problem.

Good stuff, thanks.

How do I check for a voltage drop (or ask them to check) to avoid the hot start issue?

If its a dealer they should know how to do it. if the voltage drop from the battery to the starter is more than .5 v then the cables need to be replaced.

COMPLAIN about the hot start issue! That's what I consider a latent defect on the early 997s.

Hi Edgy,

I'm not having a hot start issue right now. It was suggested I have the dealer do a volt drop test to keep me from developing one. Anything else you can think of to have them check?

I mentioned I have been putting in oil more frequently and to see if there are any leaks that may not be making it to my garage floor. (IMS and RMS have been done.
