Here's the conclusion after another 2.5 hours messing around with PIWIS:
On some cars with the cdr24, without factory BOSE or cd-changer, it won't work. The radio simply can not be programmed to select the cd-changer. It will produce errors in the cdr24 unit, because it isn't physically present. So I will be selling as well (Europe).

I purchased the TranzIt BLU HF Unit. It works perfectly. Runs through the FM Antenna. I’m happy with it. Cheaper than the LA Power. There is an thread in the 997 forum about it.

Just received my LA Power / Mr 12V Unit today. Will try installing it behind the head unit and see how it goes. Wish me luck.

Installed the unit in 2008 Cayenne with PCM2. Works well. Learned that you will need to install it as the last device in the fiber loop. And if you have a CD changer, you will need to bypass that device by either a fiber loopback or use the supplied coupler.

I ordered from Ron Chan a month ago and only 2 or three emails and no device. He sent it to the wrong zip code even though I gave him my full address. I have been emailing and no response. I am giving him til this weekend and calling PayPal on Monday. You may want to get from another source or go with something else.

It showed up in around a week from hong kong. Install was smooth tucked it behind the the climate control, removed my gauge cluster part way to run the cord for the mic behind it.
However i found that it would skip like an old cd player every minute or so over bluetooth. I reset the unit and in troubleshooting found it didnt skip over aux or with my buddies galaxy s8, but would skip with my pixel xl and various other phones i tried.
I emailed the seller and he offered a few suggestions none of which worked, so he shipped me a new unit sans cables and all is working perfectly now. I'm very happy with how this works for the price, it would be nice to have more accurate track names or album art with spotify but i'm just happy i didn't have to fork over $700 for a mobridge or denison.
Car is an 05 base model carerra with factory nav, no cd, no phone.
