Looking at a 2007 911 S and saw this on the Carfax - Concern?
Posted this under General Discussion but perhaps it is better here.
08/08/2013 39,761 Dealer Inventory Vehicle offered for sale
08/09/2013 39,798 California Inspection Station Costa Mesa, CA Passed emissions inspection
08/20/2013 Beverly Hills Porsche
Alternator replaced
Battery/charging system checked
Engine removed to complete repair
Engine/powertrain computer/module checked
Exhaust repaired
Intake manifold gasket(s) replaced
PCV valve replaced
Wing/spoiler replaced/repaired
Looking at my first Porsche and saw this on the Carfax of a 2007 911 S with 55,00 miles on it. Any cause for concern that the engine was removed for repair or the other items.
Thanks. RJ

I never has any luck talking with any dealer in Ca about buying a car. I have the impression they dont need or want the business. I would look at cars in another state.

Just to clarify, the dealer who has it for sale is a Volvo dealer and they claimed to try and contact the seller but had no luck. I also called the Porsche dealer that did the service in question, but they said no dice unless I am the owner.

Maybe the Volvo internet sales manager will do the research for you? It might be a perfect rebuild, but still could present you with a lot of possible problems over time...
There are plenty of 997S's out there. Stay on it.

That Porsche dealer sucks then. I have called Porsche dealers to find out about services and work they did on cars I was looking to purchase and they disclosed all to me.

Same here. The SA who picked up the phone was likely headed out on smoke break and didn't want to be bothered.

I would pass....a simple redacted invoice answers the question. I have asked for this info on MBZ and BMW and Ferrari and each time the selling dealer came up with the info to make the sale. I ended up buying two of the three cars over the years.
Secrets are just that...until you get to own them.
Plenty of 911s out there.

Beverly Hills Porsche? If yes then no surprise games being played. They were behind what may be the most epic thread ever on this forum. 54 pages in total:

RJ, when you called the dealership that did the repair, did you ask, "why was the engine removed for the repair"? Maybe if you asked pointed, closed-end questions, they might be able to help you, and put your mind at ease.
