Question 997.2s cab - trade kbb value or deal with tire kickers?

Kbb has it at about 47k, or I test my patience and try and sell it private (quickly) for around 54k? 42k miles. I haven't seen too many for sale on other websites or around here, so it's hard for me to gauge what the going price would be.

Only thing that happened to it was scratched on driver side door and rear view mirror damaged while parked one day (fixed along with new clearbra).

6spd
Turbo 2 wheels (some curb rash on 2)
Sport seats
Sport chrono
Self oil change 500 miles ago

Pic for reference (it was my dd for a bit, dirty pic):

Well if you need the cash quick, trade it. If you can wait then sell it outright. I see you are in N Va by the picture and the market here is strong for a good 997.2. What are you trading for and where? Porsche of Tysons or another dealer? Have you posted it to the classifieds in here? Give that a try, you just have to buy a membership.

Where are you located. I have a friend in Miami that is a high end exotic broker (LaFerrari, Ferrari GTO, Bugatti and etc.) that is specifically looking for very clean 997 inventory . . . he tried to buy my wife's while staying at our house for the hurricane.

He won't pay full retail, but will pay more than trade-in or Car Max if it is clean as he does not touch auction car trash and needs good clean inventory. The color may cause him pause or not. Give him a call.

His name is Tolga. Tell him Doug referred you.

Dude drives a Mansory Veyron and has it for sale for $2.1 mm with all updates and service ($88k) done in August. The Mansory Package alone was a $1.1.mm Euro upgrade. If know anyone looking for such a beast, let me or him know and use my name as a reference so he knows it is on the up and up.

TURBO? NEGATIVE. YOUR CAR IS NOT A TURBO. i SEE ITS A S CABRIOLET BUT WHAT OPTIONS: FULL LEATHER, PDK, VENTED SEATS, HEATED STEERING WHEEL AND ETC? AS FOR 54k ASKING. I DON'T SEE YOU GETTING THAT PRICE. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET $47 - $50k. TRADE IN AT A PORSCHE DEALERSHIP WILL GET YOU AROUND $35k UNFORTUNATELY. I KNOW I LISTED MINE AND HIGHEST OFFER WAS $47k AND MINE HAS EVERY POSSIBLE OPTION LESS PSE. I'D STILL SELL PRIVATELY IF I WAS YOU.

Take a breath and turn off all caps - he didn't say it was a turbo but that it had turbo 2 wheels.

Not sure what the tax situation is in VA but in TX you should factor in the sales tax savings of the trade value - savings on a $47K trade would be $2937.50 so a private party price should consider that.

Damn, that would be horrible if that's the case, would just keep it another year. I might have been getting too optimistic with the used market values. At 47k that's almost into 997.1 territory.

In a 500 mile radius of me, dealers are asking 55k+ for non s 997.2 cabs. So that means they're standing to make 20k on tradeins (minus whatever it costs to keep them on lots for a bit).

Private party slightly above my mileage with sport chrono/seats are 54k-58k. Maybe they're priced that high to deal with lowballers.

Default Sales tax

Here in CT we get tax credit, do you have this in your state? If so, and you do a trade that 47k is effectively worth 50k ish...

You cannot go by what one guy was offered at one dealership, how much negotiation took place and his car appears to be ruby red which is exactly a hot color to have.

$35k is way, way, way below auction and wholesale prices right now and those cars are typically trash.

A good clean car, with all services and records up to date would bring a fairly healthy trade value. Porsche and high end dealerships need good clean used inventory and will pay top dollar for it because they can make their money on the back end.

I'm not sure you could get $47k on trade or $54 private party today with it being a cab as winter is approaching. But it couldn't hurt to list it on here for $54 and see what kind of offers and feedback you get.

Just make sure to wash the car, the bird crap or tree droppings on the back of the car definitely doesn't help attract buyers.

I am worried that if I list it at 49k to get some traction, people will wonder if it's priced too low and something is wrong with it.

keinmitleid, for data point, I recently got a CPO 2010 C2 Cab (~ 16.5K mi) for $55K from a dealer in PA. For a C2S, high 40's to low 50s, i think is reasonable. Only thing is that it's starting to get a bit cold to enjoy the alfresco feature on the car. GLWS.

Carmax offered 40k. Pretty sure Porsche Tysons wouldn't do any better.

Safe to say I'll be keeping this car until next spring!
