Default 997.2 Intro

Just wanted to do a quick intro as I've been lurking for years but never really posted anything.

I searched for the right 997.2 for nearly 18 months before pulling the trigger on this car back in January. I was fairly picky in my selection criteria and felt I got lucky with this car. I actually bought it sight unseen. Even made the initial offer without seeing a single picture. Why? Because it was so unique that I didn't want to pass it up. I had attempted to buy 4 other 911s during that 18 month span and am so glad this is the one that finally worked out.

Quick car details:

2009 997.2 C2S PDK - January '09 build
2 owner, 100% maintenance done @ Porsche Exchange (who were so great working with on this purchase)
Rare Malachite Green Metallic / Full Sande Beige leather
Sport Chrono, OEM badge delete, OEM black face gauges, PDLS, FVD full exhaust

Car has basically been perfect during the first 8 months of ownership. It's a joy to drive. It's been well cared for it's entire life. Came with 2 sets of new tires, both N spec rubber. While I have not had it on track yet I have taken numerous spirited country road drives and it performs flawlessly with one exception, it's too loud with the FVD setup above 4k. I am fortunate to have a lift in my garage so swapping exhausts is pretty simple (once I was able to cut the the header bolts off!!) I've already procured OEM primary and side cans (with gundo hacks) so I am hoping that quiets things down a bit without completely neutering the sound.

Why'd I go with a 911 when there are many good offerings in this price range? I just wanted to experience the 911 feel. The driving dynamics are so unique to this platform and I think any true gear head would want to experience this feel once in their lives.

One last thing. This past Sunday this car participated in the local Dayton Concours d'Elegance and was really appreciated by the crowd and judges. This is one of the nicer judged car events in the area and there are some real gems on display. 225+ cars to be judged across many classes. This car won 2nd in class AND the Taj Ma Garaj Best in Show (from the Taj judge's perspective). If any of you have been in the Dayton Ohio area, Taj is our little slice of Porsche heaven. They know their Porsches and have about 40 on display, so having them pick this car was quite the honor.

Anyway, here are a few pics...

Wow, love the color. It's amazing how much it changes with different lighting. Definitely award worthy.

Yeah, awesome score. the 997.2 Tiz a great car. Took me 18 months to make my purchase as well, been almost 2 years and i think i'd sleep in it before i'd let it go. I think its the "ultimate driving machine" (pays homage to your sign lol)

Great color, great car, drive the wheels off of it...mike

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Been a pleasure owning it thus far. One of the great things about owning this car is that it has allowed me to meet some great folks within the local porsche community that are like minded gear heads.

Now I just need to get up the courage and motivation to take this car out on mid ohio and see what it can really do!
