Default Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, longer term reviews?

Now that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S has been out for a while, does anyone have thoughts after driving many miles on a set?

and did anyone try the 305 size on the rears?

Interested as well. I replaced my rear PSS with these in 285 this past weekend. Did not plan to replace, but I had a foreign object in one of the old tires that could not be patched.

One thing I like so far - The PS 4S was cheaper than the older PSS!

I wonder if the PS4 has better dry grip than the N-rated PS2 (for standing start launch in a C2S) ?

I've got 8k miles and 5 track days on a set. 305s in the rear. Still performing well.

just spent couple days at track with fresh 4s on my recently arrived 997 gt2

bottom line -- they are very very good tires for street/moderate track use

i drove the car 8 to 9/10ths on a dry track in mid/high 80's ambient temps - tires withstood the punishment well (about as well as older super sports) with slightly better grip - no chunking of the tread, no flat spotting or loss of balance... ride felt a little harder driving home than driving out to the track, but that is to be expected

like the mpss, these are quite firm sidewall tires, very very responsive at turn in... actually the cup 2's provide MORE compliance as well as more grip...
overall a very good tire and a worthy successor to the beloved super sport

Is this the “go to” tire now for 911’s?

If you read the Tire Rack reviews, yes. It's the clear leader in the Max Performance Summer Tire category. I just got a set, and went out for a very spirited Fun Run with the PCA Golden Gate Region (a warm day in Northern California). They're fantastic. Very grippy, and great in tight turns.

Saw this thread pop up again and it was my excuse to get out and drive my car! It's 40 here with alittle snow flying. Tires were a little underinflated (don't have my winter air in them yet). Traction was still very good!

2009 C2S 119K miles

I posted my opinion when I purchased them 6 months ago.... no change, I still feel the same. I think I am the only one on the planet who has a critique of these tires. In short, I should have purchased the PSS. While these new S4 are superior in traction, wet, and noise, the PSS's were pretty darn amazing in these respects before. However, I find the S4s mushy and vague relative to the PSS, I don't like this at all.

Made both available now? If so what’s the price difference?

2010 C2 - street and 7 track days.
I've had the PS4S since the summer coming from bridgestone S-04.
PS4S are a bit more responsive, significantly better in the wet, stickier in the dry, however noisier and showed a bit more wear than the bridgstones with comparable use and mileage. hope this helps
