I bought a C4 last week with both a fried head unit and a blown amp, I knew these things when I bought it. The head I'm replacing with a touchscreen. Curious as to opinions on the following options for the Amp

1) Have the Amp repaired and keep the existing speaker setup

2) Replace with an aftermarket 5-channel amp and upgrade speakers

Option 2 is maybe $500 more than option 1 due to speakers and wiring, plus the hassle of doing it. Will such a system actually produce meaningfully better sound quality vs the stock setup?

Make sure you do it in a shop who knows what they're doing, the setup in these cars are not straight forward and finding an Amp that fits the old amp size is next to impossible. Also, as far as I remember, head unit powered two speakers, and Amp powered the others... so one must take that into account.

I have a Kenwood Class D amplifier that fits in the Frunk where the old one was.

Larry - Do you happen to know the name of the amp? Are you still using all the factory speaker locations?

I'm planning to do this myself and now trying to figure out the most effective way to continue to drive every existing speaking location vs. abandoning the dash locations and doing standard four corners plus subs.
