Default Gear Heads Unite: U.K. to Ban Sale of Diesel, Gasoline Vehicles by 2040

I know that the French already announced something similar a while back, but c'mon .. it's the FRENCH. Now the Brits are going the same way. Is the beginning of the end of the Flat 6 world in which we all live...? Here's the link to the WSJ article: https://www.wsj.com/articles/u-k-to-...040-1501062680

Having driven a few electric vehicles now, I'm ok with this.

France and the EU have announced 2025 for the last year of internal combustion engines (new vehicles).

It does not leave much time for most manufacturers who have no electric vehicles in their catalog.

Knowing that the world is ruled by the Oil corporations, I am not too worried about these deadlines: they will change multiple times before a consensus is found.

If you look at where Tesla is *right now*, I can't imagine a gas burning car making any sense in 2040... and I say this as a guy who's into all sorts of outdated things like film photography and vinyl!

Doesn't matter to me if it runs off gas, water, batteries, etc.. if the driving experience doesn't go away, I'm good.

So since this is where things are headed .. 2025, 2040, whenever.. what can we invest in to ride along. The cooling trays, cells, boards.. something must be common from all the manufactures.

Better buy stock in copper mining, lithium mines, plastics, solar production, glass and other things. Plus recycling, all that copper in pipes, motors in various old appliances...lots of money to be made here.

How open to building new nuclear power plants is the UK? I doubt any of the numbskulls in Parliament (and by that, I am casting that aspersion over all politicians, including the US) has done any calculations to try and figure out just how much power this conversion will eat up and whether or not the British power infrastructure can even carry it.

Shhh! Let's not talk about that, and other things an EV infrastructure requires and limits.

Sounds like they are banning the sales of gas/diesel cars. If you still have a gas powered car, looks like you will still be able to drive it. Of course finding gas might get harder as gas stations shut down do to lack of demand.

What I find MOST disturbing about all of these neo-Marxist moves is that government is MANDATING what people should buy and drive, INSTEAD of markets driving the behavior as it should be! IF people wanted to drive economy and electric cars, THEY WOULD BE BUYING THOSE on their own and industry will respond accordingly...

However, what these policies do is to enforce a false choice on consumers whether or not they want it. This is all a globalist and post-modern policy which has roots in communism and using Global Warming as an excuse to force people to obey the state! It's simply pathetic and wrong, and we should all stand up to it everywhere we maybe. It won't be too long they come after everything you own and mandate what you can or cannot buy with your own money!

Bans the sale of new gas cars or bans the sale of all gas car new and used. If the latter......that is insane.

ALOT can happen in that time frame. It's possible electric car revolution fails due to tons of global factors. IE. Natural gas becoming extremely expensive (hence electricity becomes extremely expensive) and electricity prices in general.

People in spain don't even use their ACs because they use too much electricity and it's insanely expensive.

if this causes enough pain economically it will die.
