So what's it like living on the ragged edge all the time?

I love seeing reports like this one. The car has been driven for sure, not stored. The range 1 & 2 although high counts are not a problem. These cars like to be driven fast and can bounce off redline without issues. The range 4 was 300 hours ago - so it doesn't count. No range 5's or range 6's - awesome. The only mild concern is the recent range 3, by itself not a problem.

This report alone doesn't scare me. If the rest of the car is super clean and well maintained I'd buy it. But this report plus missing maintenance records or a overly worn condition, I'd pass.

You need another 34290 range 1 revs!

I wish there was a way to reset the DME so you could still get an accurate count past 65353 over-revs.

I sometimes hear vague references to some company in Europe that will reset your DME for you, but I don't know any more than that.

It's pretty easy to get to the 65k range 1 maximum with certain tunes that raise the rev limiter. Of course, with Porsche people a readout like that is like putting a giant scarlet letter A on the hood and nobody will ever touch it with a ten-foot pole lest it explode and take out their family and loved ones.

Yes, either semicycler or nwGTS pointed that out to me. The hour of the last over rev will continue to update but the counter stops at 65535.

I have considered doing a reset and definitely will if I ever rebuild the engine. I've posted screenshots of my DME and talked about it enough here it would be pretty hard to hide that my car is/was maxed out in range 1.

Do you own that car or are you looking at purchasing it? If the latter, and it's at a dealer, I'd avoid it, and the reason is those overrevs in the last few hours would either be from test drives, where the car isn't properly warmed up before "seeing what this thing can do" or from a dealership employee using it as his car for a while and not really caring about it. Used cars on dealer lots to them are like rental cars to us and I'd want to see about 40 more hours on the motor since the last overrev to know it's OK.
