the rears are P/N 996 361 617 00

Probably safer than 62+mm lug bolts, look at the hub of your Sport Techno's
there a spot where the OEM bolt heads hide in the hub of the wheel

http://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.com...ame=hub-spacer

prices vary, I've seen them as low as $88

Porsche does not make a 7mm spacer, only a 5mm for the front

The black lug nuts look just like the silver ones that came stock. I see no reason why wouldn't be safe.

Previous owner had black wheels? Used black lug nuts?

No black wheels, but the car is black. Maybe the factory ran out of the silver ones when the car was built?

I still think this is a strange solution.

Having run with and with out spacers: 1) IMO the handling around corners is better with spacers. Just feels more planted. Probably the slightly wider stance? Around town you would not feel a difference. On a track yes. 2) The wider stance does give a good look when filling out the wheel well, also IMHO.

Do your rear wheel silver lug nuts have a security nut?

Just seems like kludge job.
Well it turns out that I have the exact same spacer setup as you do:

The setup has been working fine for me, don't think there's any reason to question it or be worried about it. I think it's the factory spacer setup.

Thanks! It seems like a crazy setup with the security bolt and all.

No problem! Yea I think they just used the standard bolt setup each wheel came with for the car, 4 standard lug bolts and one security bolt, to hold the spacer in place. My front wheels each have a security bolt as well.

I guess the security bolt is there in case you get a really **** wheel thief: "Oh, these are nice wheels, but they're no good to me because I can't get the spacers!"

I have been researching this for a while because I am returning my car to its original state, which includes Technos. I have seen many shots of cars with factory installed Technos and almost all had the black lugs (2004 / 2005), that is what I will use also. (rears only)
