Boost gauge limit
Wondering if anyone who has chipped Theo car has seen boost levels via the stock digital gauge go above .7 bar. I believe my car is chipped but at full boost it only shows .7. Any insight would be great
Thanks

Yessir.
I have a non-X50, and I see up to 1.1 on the stock readout (apparently, a previous owner added a tune).
I think the 997tt's might be different in this regard.

The DME then allows as much boost as is necessary to meet the torque demanded.
If it only requires 0.7 bar of boost that's all you'll "see".
My experience with my stock 2003 Turbo is to get 0.7 bar boost requires pertty ideal conditions and this includes sufficient clear road because when the engine is making 0.7 bar boost it is really making a lot of power.
You can try this in a lower gear but the engine gains RPMs so fast you have no real time to watch the boost gage you need to watch the tach and the road.
So, in 3rd or 4th gear at something around 2.5K RPMs floor the gas pedal to the carpet and hold. The boost level should rise and reach its peak, which could be 0.6 bar, 0.7 bar, or possible higher even if the engine is stock.
The boost won't remain fixed but as RPMs continue to rise will drop off.
(As an aside, I have mentioned before I've seen up to 0.9 bar with my stock Turbo but this was under very hard -- WOT -- acceleration at high (~8K feet above sea level) altitude.)
For the DME to let the engine make full/max boost the engine wants to be in good tune. Good plugs, coils, good gasoline and don't ignore the O2 sensors. Even a stock Turbo is "hard" on plugs (and coils and sensors) and a tuned one even more so.
As an aside at 132K miles a P0135 error code appeared (bad O2 sensor heater). The engine felt fine and I managed to drive it from Barstow CA to Livermore CA with no signs of any issues other than the CEL coming on after an engine start after stopping for gasoline. Had all 4 sensors replaced and the engine ran noticeably better afterwards.
More recently had the coils replaced and the plugs (plugs had around 10K miles left before they were due but decided to have these changed a bit prematurely) and afterwards the engine ran noticeably better. Since the engine has had plugs replaced a few times prior to this and never ran any better (or worse) after I attributed the improvement to the new coils.
My point is even though the engine felt like it was running fine and with no untoward behavior other than the CEL the engine perked up after new sensors were installed and again after new coils and plugs were installed.
To get the most out of the tune you need to be sure you keep the engine in good "tune".

I was watching my boost gauge today, during which I drove 155 miles on the highway, and it's the first time I've paid any attention to the boost gauge. I got as high as 1.0 when accelerating, but the vast majority of the time it was either 0.0 or up to maybe 0.2
My car has a Softronic Stage one Software tune on it, that is intended for 93 octane gas, unavailable in my state. I have at least for now been augmenting the 91 gas with Torco Accelerator, supposedly increasing the octane to around 93. Also, the drive in question took place between 2500 and 6000 feet of elevation.

Wow crazy Eddie that 951S looks amazing very nice work keeping that thing around this long congrats!
Reiner that strosek is beautiful now after your craftsmanship very clean excellent work my friend. I remember a 1987 road and track I still have it with my first glimpses of a strosek 951 I thought the lines of the fenders and hatch and skirts were amazing looking? Very state of the art pushing the limits even further that Porsche designers timeless now!

Bay Area, rather dry air, less than 100ft above sea level.
I’ve never seen more than 0.4 on the boost gauge at WOT....
Any thoughts? Is that expected normal?
Car is not X50, not modded, completely stock.
