I went from 19s to 18s with H&R Springs.

I have 19's on a 04' cab...
235/35's up front and 315/25's in back. Fit well. Don't rub. IMO 18's are better suited for these cars but some 19's really do look nice.

Nothing wrong with 19s guys but the diameter of these tires is physically to all. They will not fit in the fenders.

I run basically the tallest setup possible and can only be done with rwd.
I run a 255/35/19 and 325/30/19 and this takes a very large amount of modding to fit.

There is one problem with 19". Your speedo will be 3 mph ahead. Thus you miles would accumulate faster. I have 19" on my 2001 TT and i want to switch to 18". But i do like how they look.

Not necessarily true.

I run 19" and love the look and the fitment is great. Details:

19x9 +50
19x11.5 +38
245/35 - 19
305/30 -19
Bridgestone s04
Bilstein PSS9 at gt2 height

I do not track my car and definitely don't have the skill to go 10-10ths so the performance edge if any is a moot point for me for 18". I might get a rub on the front fender liner if making a 90 turn at speed and hitting a bump. The car came with stock twist with Hankook V12 evo2. The 19" ride much better (nearly same sidewall height as 18" and the rest I attribute to the tire difference). The 19" tires are much grippier but they are wider and a different brand so it isn't and apples to apples comparison. Oh BTW my speedo was 6 mph fast (at normal crusing speed) and now is only about 3MPH fast with the taller tires so it actually helped my speedo be more accurate. Generally I find that the speedos in cars read 3mph fast so a taller tire is going to make it more accurate unless you go "way taller".

With 245/35-19 and 305/30-19 tires your AWD coupling is trying to slow down the front wheels because the front wheels turn ~14 revs/mile faster due to the rear wheel/tire combo having almost a half inch larger overall diameter. An ideal combo for 19" wheels on a 996TT that keeps the AWD system happy is 235/35-19 (or 245/35-19) and 315/25-19. However, with this combo you lose 0.3/0.4 inches of front/rear tire sidewall when compared to stock.

In addition to what dprantl said, there are only 3 tire choices in the 315/25-19 and they are not that great.

My tire diameters are 25 5/16" front and 25 7/32" rear as measured by my Stanley tape. So the front is slightly larger. That gives me 795 rev/mi front and 799 rev/mi rear. The OEM tires are larger in the front as well.

I'm happy with 19's on my car, don't think I'd make the switch to 18's. The 18's look good, but feel the 19's fill out the wheel wells a little more on the widebody 996's and kind of gives the car an updated look.

if you're supper worried about the awd you can run a 245/35/19 and 295/30/19 which are closer than being the 305 rear. Guy have been running the 245/305 setups for years though with no issues.

honestly the awd system in our cars kinda sucks anyway and is basically rwd with a little front wheel assist. The notable difference in awd performance is slime to none.

Also note that a 3145/25/19 has less traction that a similar compound 305/30/19 and the ride quality is much worse as well. Expensive and limited tire selection too.

Yes, I am aware that many have run sub-optimal F/R tire combos. But it is incorrect to state that they have no issues unless they have definitively tested their AWD systems and confirmed that they are working correctly. There is a video posted here before of an AWD 996 getting stuck on a slick grass slope, and it looked like the front wheels were not doing anything at all. It is possible that running a tire combo that is too far out of spec will damage the front AWD coupling and render the system inoperable without the owner/driver ever knowing it. Or maybe there is no problem at all, but one should not assume it is okay without data to back that up.

8000 mi on my 245/305 setup and the front wheels still turn if I put it in gear on my lift.

I'm thinking of getting factory wheels. These look good but I like tire choices for 18's better.
