I asked if he meant in general or just to me and he won't respond.

Nothing shady there, right??
Weird.

I would still buy a car from him.

Not sure what u mean by actuator arms on the blow off valves. You mean wastegate?
Blow off valves on a turbo are called divertor valves and do not have actuators but springs or diaphragms! .
Actuator arms attach to the waste gates from the vacuum actuator.
Based on the parts breakout X50 takes the same plugs as base turbo!

I think you are shooting yourself in the foot trying to chase after a pristine car at these prices, or your expectations are set at the wrong price bracket. If such small details are causing you heartburn then you should either look for like 60+k 996s or look for new cars alltogether. I can easily see how someone would decide that it's too much trouble to deal with you based on this and the cab thread...

I do have my sites set in the 60k+ range. That's why I was expecting this car to be relatively pristine. He wanted into the 60ks for it.

Again, not looking for the car to be absolutely perfect, I just want it to be well maintained and be hopefully all stock. If I'm paying top dollar, I don't think that's too crazy to ask .

As for the cab thread - that was the first car I looked at, and it really made me realize I want a coupe. Therefore, the car wasn't right.

If someone said they wouldn't deal with me, I would run away. He probably knows something wrong with the car and you will find it with ppi. He is doing you a favour. If car was great he would sell it to you.

In that case my apologies; keep on keepin' on! The cars in the cab thread and the current bid on this X50 made me assume you were looking at 40-45k cars. If you're shopping in the 60k territory then by all means be extra picky.

haha, thanks! Would I love to stay in the 40ks? Yes! However, I realized early on that what I'm looking for will take time an patience and a few annoying threads on here - as well as a larger budget .

If this car was in the 40s I would've been on the first flight to NY with a bag of cash haha.

Some sellers have a "shut up and give me the money or GTFO" attitude. They don't like thorough people who want to do their diligence. Maybe that's the case with this guy, too.

If this car was priced in the 40s I would have bought out from under you.

I do not think this fellow is a scammer. I think he thought sgtpeper's purchase of this car was a done deal since they had loosely agreed to a sale price.

This is a very very nice car but it had a possible issue with boost control or a tune and that needs to be sorted and that is bit difficult for sgtpeper to do from 2000 miles away.

Hi all,

I spoke with the Seller at length today. We sorted out our differences and have agreed on a price to move forward! To overcome my fears he told me that if the car wasn't what he said it was, and if it had some catastrophic issue, he would buy it back from me. He is a stand up seller and I couldn't be more delighted to be purchasing this car. It has every single option I was really looking for and a good clean history.

Pictures to come when the car arrives at my house!
