Default Convertible top problem

Hi all. My 996tt convertible top frame has a bolt or something that has evaporated into thin air. The hinge in question is the large hinge that is the main pivot at the forward lower edge of the frame at top rear of the the door. My copy of the service manual covers the top but not the frame. Anyone? Thx

Pictures of what your talking about might help? Also post your question in the 996 forum since it's the same top with a larger group of people.

Thanks for the PDF, I didn't have that one.

After some more examination the hinge is supposed to have a small screw and a flat threaded disk holding it together. Going to have to pull the rear panel and see if they fell down in the body.

BTW, you do realize you are on the 996 Turbo Forum and not the 996 NA forum. If you do not get response from the folks here, you may want to post there since there will be many more Cab owners,. The Turbo only made cabs for 2 years, 2004 and 2005.

Also, I do not have an answer for you regarding your problem.

Check the e-brake switch. I think if it is not making contact the dash switch won't work but the key in the door lock will. Assuming you know to always have the e-brake on to open top.

You don’t need to have the e-brake on to open the top. In fact you can open it while driving up to 31 mph. This is not the problem.

He has a 1999 and yes you must have the e-brake engaged for this model.

My mistake - I missed the 1999 year since this is the Turbo forum - lack of reading comprehension on my part.
