Default vehicle transport

Can anyone recommend a transport service? I need to ship my car from Albuquerque to Houston, but most places I've contacted can only give me a pickup window of 3-7 days. I need a service that will pick it up on a guaranteed date.

I think unless you get a private single car trailer guy, you will not get a date of pickup guaranteed. They may say they will but the day before they may call you and say the truck broke down, and nothing I can do about it and parts will take 2 days. Most transport companies do this type of thing. Why not just drive it?

The distance involved (ABQ to Houston) can't be that great. I just drove my (new to me) 996 Turbo from L.A. to Idaho, a distance of over 900 miles, which I did in two days with one overnight.

Part of the excitement!

I used Montway to have my car shipped from SF Bay Area to WA. Enclosed trailer cost was a little over $900 and the car was picked up the next day after I made the arrangements.

I contacted several companies and I agree that most places won't provide a guaranteed pick up date. Also, Intercity has limitations on their service areas so they may not be an option for you. They would not ship from SF to Seattle... which struck me as odd since it seems like a pretty common route and a straight shot at that.

Plans A through Y would be driving the car from Albuquerque to Houston.

Just 881 miles or roughly 12 hours of driving. A Turbo. On the highway. For 12 hours. My idea of heaven on earth.

Plan Z would be shipping the car.

Agreed. My final mileage was 1710 miles!!! It took 4 days and I stopped in multiple states and cities. I would do it all over again next weekend as well.

I think it depends on the route one must drive through. My route (from L.A. to Boise, Idaho) was reasonably scenic, at least parts of it were. About 300 miles of my 900 were through literally, the middle of nowhere, on US 95 between Winnemucca, NV, and Boise, Idaho. Cell voice coverage was spotty to worse, and data coverage was non-existent. I would not have wanted to have a flat tire or any other sort of roadside emergency along at least that part of my route. Fortunately, the worst I had was the need to relieve myself, roadside, and not having anywhere outside of the sight line of other passing vehicles to do so :-)

But if the route is almost entirely on interstate highways or other routes passing through lots of towns, then I would say, go for it!!!!
