Also, do you guys see value in the performance mods? I guess that's what drew me to the car. Kind of like the idea of 660 HP.

This is an entirely personal thing, if you see the value in it then buy it and keep it!

My negative feedback only applies if you were going to turn around and sell it, I think the market is much narrower for this car and the price should reflect that more than any dollar value implied by the mods (kit was $17k).

The front bumper is "GT2 style", but again, all signs point to it being an aftermarket replica. And I do think something is off with it that I can't put my finger on (I'm not a GT2 expert).

Also, if the wing is up in and the car is shut off does that indicate it's broken?
Not necessarily -- it's possible to manually move the wing to the up position with the dash switch, and then turn the car off.

But in practice, yes. They all fail eventually, so it's probably broken or converted to fixed.

I actually do, unlike most buyers -- but it's the rest of the stuff that turns me off.

Because when we're talking about a highly-tuned 660hp car, I want to see no corners cut whatsoever. If an owner is willing to cut corners on aesthetic stuff, who knows if he's also cutting corners on the maintenance of something that requires more maintenance than a stock car.

I would say it's worth high 30's to low 40's.

That is a car which is hard to put a value on. To a purist it is worth anywhere from nothing to 35k. Somebody who appreciates the mods its worth more. The real draw back on that car is the tasteless smoked lights etc.

If you are interested, I think you can just wait for that car to come down in price and ****** it up around 40k.

Thanks again everyone. I spoke to the dealer today and the car is a consignment so there isn't a lot of room to move. I'll likely keep looking for the time being. I think I really prefer a manual box anyways. I was just lured in by the power.

Sold a couple of cars on consignment using a (used car) dealer. The dealer told me the "1st offer's the best offer" even if it wasn't the price assigned to the car.

There's room to move. Remember everything a car salesman tells you is intended to 1) Get you to buy the car as soon as possible; 2) Pay as much for the car as possible.

Well, you'll be pleased to know that the power mods that car had aren't really that crazy for a 996tt. If you want that kind of power, there are lots of vendors who can set you up with it for not crazy amounts of cash. That being said, a more moderate tune, to say a wimpy 550 hp, can be done relatively inexpensively.

And you may* like it better.

* probably will

If nothing is wrong after PPI, low 40s due to the mismatch and mods

I am not far from this shop and its across the street from Haydon Bros (great porsche service/repair shop) I know well.

If serious I can stop by and do a visual on the car.
