Default Finally pulled the trigger

and picked up this 02 996tt. It has 43k miles, no mods, and the only option on it is heated seats. The previous owner swapped out the CR-220 cassette player for a CDR-220 CD player. I added the bluetooth adapter, it has a whine but is functional. Otherwise it is all stock. I am leaving the cassette storage in the center console just for kicks. Thanks to everyone for their purchase advice leading up to now!

Car looks sweet and those plump wild turkeys would make a fine meal.

Beautiful, congrats!!

You probably already know this, but if you tire of the cassette holder, there are factory Porsche parts for a blank cubby, CD holder, or to delete the lower console altogether.

Ya they're pretty inexpensive and looks easy to swap, but I don't really need more storage there, and my phone seems to interfere with the bluetooth device when I put it there anyway. Plus it makes me wonder how many people ordered a $115k car with a cassette player, even in 2002.

Mine is a 2002, and came with the $3500 nav / PCM v.1 option, which had a cassette input + tiny screen in the 2 top slots. And the lower slot where your cassette holder is, is instead the CD changer -- not for audio CD's, but to swap out the navigation data discs for different geographic regions.

So actually, some of the optioned cars did have cassette players.

Wow even in 2002, having a cassette player especially with the nav seems like a total anachronism. I was thinking back and the 2003 Mustang Cobra I bought that year at least had an MP3 CD player.

My 02 came with the nicest cassette player I ever owned. It's in the cabinet in the garage now and a Kenwood double din with Bluetooth is in it place. For how loud my car is inside the Bluetooth phone works perfectly, must have some good filtering.
