Those are the widest (and best looking) rears I've ever seen on a 996. Love it.

Hey JC! Duh, I thought the car looked familiar when I saw it in the pics. We'll have to do it again. I'm thinking about going back down at the end of May for that event. Depends if I can make it work... Let's keep in touch! Let me know if you ever want to come up to my neck of the woods. Our Club race is June 15-17.

Yes, 100% street and emission legal. I don't really drive it on the street but still renew the plates mainly so I can drive to to the shop if I need to.

Great to see a post of these in action, love the first one from the rear where you can see the tire rollover.
Did you get a chance to play with the new Viper in the pic?

How do u get those rear tires/wheels to fit?

What r the spec/sizes?

Did u have to swap out fender liners for GT2 liners ?

Hey Mark, yeah, really goes to show how much load goes through the suspension. In the second to last pic you can clearly see the tire pulling away from the wheel bead. I think that was the latest Viper with all the huge aero. I got by him early in the session and didn't see him after that.

Car looks great, John. Cup splitter fits really well with the RuF front. Did you notice any difference with that addition?

Wheels are 18x10 ET38 and 18x13 ET46. Tires are 275/35 and 335/30. They're wide as the front measure 11" and rears 14" wide. All the fender liners and brackets are GT2 (btw, GT2/TT rear liners are one and the same). The rear wheels are actually pretty straight forward to fit. You have to heat and mold the liners, roll the fenders very tight, and grind / trim a small area near the fender/bumper cover junction. Fitting the fronts is a lot more involved but doable. In any case, your suspension needs to be fully adjustable and needs to be full monoball to preclude any shifting of the wheel assemblies under load as clearances are very tight.

Yeah, the OEM Cup splitter works perfectly with the RUF bumper which is perfectly flat on the bottom. It's almost as if it was made for it. I installed blind nuts in the bottom of the bumper and then I bolt on the splitter with nylon bolts. I used nylon bolts as they will shear off in case of a track off without damaging the bumper itself. I remove it prior to loading onto the trailer as there is not enough clearance with it otherwise. Works well. The beauty of the Cup splitter is that it is a $200 part. What's amazing is that the street GT3 splitter is $800 and it's actually the same part but trimmed down more to be smaller. I'm sure once Porsche Motorsport catches on they'll jack the price four fold. I've stocked up..

Did I notice a difference in downforce? Hard to say Chris. The car is very glued as is but any reduction of air flowing under the car will clearly provide a benefit. I'm sure it's there but obviously it's a subtle one. I'm certainly not one of these people that can claim that my butt dyno can discern an extra 5hp or a tenth or two reduction of lap time. Once I get some data running on my home track with this set up I'll be able to look at the Motec lap data and see if and where I see a benefit. I just have not yet been at my home track this year.
