Wastegate binding
Advice please. I have a good relationship with my porsche certified indy mechanic. I am told my 996 TTS has a wastegate that is binding in the left turbo housing. Indy says turbocharger replacement is only option. Can send it out for rebuild or replacement with rebuilt. Or pay up for new.
Indy says replacing wastegate itself is not an option.
Anybody can share similar experience? I had not anticipated this $$ kind of repair.

Before replace it your mechanic should try cleaning, adjusting and lubricating the armature.

Three Wheelin'
When I adjusted mine, it took some effort to get the adjustment nuts and rod with it's coupling in the middle ( on the actuator) all lined up and moving without binding. Now if your indy is just talking about the flapper valve in the turbo and it's pivot shaft then it is a different story and I have no experience.
