Default Rod's Engine Removal

Hello Gents,
After a coolant leak 100 miles from home the engine now needs to come out.
I needed to fix my 2nd gear pop out and pin my coolant lines so all is good (other than the $500 tow bill).
I'd like to bring everyone along for the ride so you can maybe give me some pointers.
Car is on the hoist and fluids are removed.
Next is to remove the bumper and all the tidbits.
Rod

May be this thread can help you! https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ts-needed.html

Also the repair manual starting at page 1168 is what I used the first time and it is really useful.....

Thanks jpflip.
I have read your thread and printed off your parts list before I started.
The manual is open on my work bench as I type. Not sure if it is the translation, but I find the manual strange at times. Maybe it is the use of so many exclamation marks!!!!
This is the only engine removal thread I could find. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...xperience.html
Does anyone know another by someone that has done it more than once?

Following this thread for future reference...

Are you using a hydraulic drop table to remove the engine? Some other threads recommended this HF unit, about $225 or so with the typical coupons.

I used a table bolted to an engine stand for my air-cooled. Although the hydraulic table here in Canada is twice the price, I am going to pick one up as it makes working by yourself so much easier. More for the install.

I've noticed that the rebuild threads don't show the engine on an engine stand, just a table. Why is this? The yoke is the same as the air-cooled and I plan on using it for my transmission and engine.

i have to use my engine hoist to lift the motor onto the engine stand. unless your tearing the motor down to split the cases its really not needed. all can be done on the table. also i just pull the wheels off not the liners

That is the 1,000-lb capacity HF table, yes? Anyone know what the engine + manual trans weighs? Is that table tough enough? HF stuff is always suspect IMO.

Getting there.
Need to figure out how to remove the air-con compressor and power steering pump without opening up either system.
