Anyone in SoCal know this car?
http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...modelCode1=911
My budget would accommodate spending another 5-10k, preferably for one with 20k fewer miles and records, but I love this ext. color. There are window stickers reflecting PCA membership in Orange Cty. It was sent to auction after being traded in to a P dealer on a new 911.
There are no maintenance records beyond what is listed on Carfax, it has some obvious high visibility paint blemishes on the passenger door (is that fixable w/o a total repaint?) and rear quarter, needs new rear rubber now, broken seal around the rear middle brake light...all of which contribute to the list price. On the plus side they have replaced the accumulator, "slave cylinder looked fairly new and it also looked like the pump assembly for that hydraulic system (related to the clutch actuation and power steering systems) also looked like it had been replaced relatively recently."
As an aside, what type of head unit is that? Just anticipating bluetooth connectivity needs.
Thank you all.

Looks like it's in Mesa Az there's a few good places for ppi, the front bumper looks like it can be fixed with good buff/color-sand but not sure about the door can't tell from picture how bad it is or isn't if it needs a repaint door that's about $2000? The 3rd brake light gasket always degrades most just replace/upgrade with led 3rd light for around $120. Head unit looks Oem so no bluetooth. Good luck color looks great if you need eyes on it I might be able go look this weekend.

I'm surprised so many here on an obvious enthusiast site do PPI. If you're mechanically inclined at all, save your money.

Nice car. Looks like a good deal. Light gray interior is a killer for me, but makes the car a cheaper price being less desirable to most .
Good luck if you get it!

Certainly I would prefer the dash and wheel in black, but wouldn't bother me enough to throw money at. Part of the beauty of buying used is me not having to stress over the configuration/option boxes!

I sort of agree that folks tend to put too much stock in PPI's, but at the same time, why NOT do one?

So looks like it's due for tires ($1300), fix on AC control ($200 on eBay + install), oil change with new filter (<$200), driver window regulator adjustment or new regulator (<$500?), boost leaks (<$500 hopefully), motor mounts ($1500 with install?)
Still looks like a good deal to me. I'd buy it, but I don't have garage space.

Well just for argument sake (because this is enjoyable to me ) so I buy it and put $4k into it to fix these issues, now it's a $41k car with 87k miles, and I think at that price there are cars with records and a bit fewer miles...or cars with 100k miles but better records and no immediate issues for low 30s....
The boost leak sounds like lots of labor to diagnose, prob not expensive to fix once diagnosed, right?

only boosting to .06/7 isn't a big deal either.. boost leaks are very common and part of the joy of ownership. if minor vac leaks scare you? a turbo ( let alone a twin turbo ) might not be the right car for you lol.
not to worry, they are all fairly easily located and remedied.
bottom line, that dme dump seems fine. gl if you pursue it further
