Default Sumitomos vs Bridgestone tires

Any particular views from experience out there, I currently run Bridgestones on my F430 Spider & F430 Scuderia (cos they wont kill me in the wet) and very happy with them but Sumitomos are cheaper ?

Reviews on the Sumi's mention road noise more than a few times. So I suppose if that bothers you its something to consider for the price. Bridgestone makes wonderful product, Also happy with Michelin and Yokohamas..

Have Sumitomos on my 996tt, run fine nor problems. I'm changing to Continentals DW's though as they have a 295/35 and matching front which will hopefully soften the ride over the 295/30's. Shame there's not a 305 or 315/35 in street tires available..

I agree for everyday driving on the road I run them with no problem. I keep the sumis on my stock wheels and nitto nt-01 on my CCWs.

I have actually used sumis on track. When they were new they were surprisingly pretty good. After a while though the heat cycling takes some of the grip away.

While I can't comment on Bridgestone tires as I have never tried a set I have had P zeros, Nitto's, Kumho's, and for the last year been running a set of Sumitomos which I have been very happy with.

I had Potenza S-02A's on the car when I bought it, 1/2 way worn in the front and new rears. They were good, and maybe had a bit more grip than the Sumitomo's but at more than twice the price for a set of 4, I went with the HTR-ZIII's. The Sumi's last about 3-4K miles more in the back. I'm happy. For street use anyway, and since the car can pull 1.0+ g's stock, I really don't have any chance to do this on the street.

The sumitomo's are a fine street tire, I put three sets of them on my 996C4S over the past 3 years and you can't beat the price.

I still sell a very large majority of 993/996 Sumitomo over other brands, and there are plenty of reviews out there on them. For the price most feel that they have to at least try a set and see for themselves. They do drop off a bit compared to Michelin and Bridgestone with regards to track performance, but wet grip and wear seems to be consistent with the higher priced tires. They tend to run a bit narrow also and don't have the rim band in some of the rear sizes would be the biggest complaint. Overall a very solid tire for the money.
