Default Trouble finding oem tail lights

Just wondering if anyone has a set of oem 996TT/ widebody tail lights up for grabs otherwise i'd have to resort to the old ebay. I see that there's a set there. I'm not looking for perfect condition ones, just some to replace the aftermarket led ones that came with my car. It has condensation, but surprisingly no led failures yet. Happy to send you them for a shipping fee if you find me some decently priced oem ones.

Thanks in advance!

how much are you looking to spend? i found some on car-part.com

if you don't mind the LEDs and just want to fix the condensation issue, get the lights off the car, stick them in front of a dehumidifier to dry them out, then run a bead of silicone on the seam and zip tie some desiccant packs in the light...

Between the lens microcracking issue, mounting tabs breaking, and the car being out of production for 15 years, finding a set of "perfect" used ones isn't going to be easy or inexpensive.

You can always buy them new from Porsche, OE discounters get about $425 a side.

That said, if the lenses aren't micro-cracked, you can use lightsavers to deal with broken tabs. I'm actually testing out a set of the new metal ones and will be doing a write-up on them shortly.

thanks! Please let me know about the savers. The pair I'm eyeing at has broken tabs.

That being said looks like everyone is leaning towards a brand new set vs a used set. I'll keep that into consideration when I'm negotiating a deal.

Looking approx like 450 a side. If anyone has anything better let me know!

Do you know what kind of LED tail lights you have? eBay special, Delray customs, depo etc? I may be interested in them.

I don't quite know but i think they are?.

Only the reverse light areas have condensation inside and the LEDs are all working for now.

But I'll keep them until I find a set of oems.

I've got a spare set in the garage but one side has a small piece of the lens that is missing. I can take a photo once I get home if you are interested.

'Microcracking' - as in, plastic failure, or some other issue? Wouldn't a failure in the lens like that allow moisture into the enclosure? That, would suck.

Agreed something about " no returns" from walmart selling porsche tail lights seems a bit wrong. BUT, I've been surprised before!

Almost every 996 tail light has little cracks in it in pretty much the same spot. You can see them towards the top of the light in this pic.

I got a set of the metal ones 6 months ago. They work very well.

Only recommendation was to silicon the bolts that hold them in so they don't back out.
