996TT Discontinued Tire Sizes & AWD Implications

Do you have a link to video?
There surely are ways to break a viscous coupling. The most sure fire is trying to extract the car using its own power where the front wheels are stuck solid but rears can still spin.
Normal driving, even in heavy snow, will not damage the AWD system.

Thanks for digging this up.
First off, that guy can't drive for $h!t.
Second, if that really is an AWD car, and I have my doubts, he fried the viscous coupling long before this adventure. Probably by stuffing the nose of the car into mud or a snow bank then just flooring it to extract himself. At no point in this video do the front wheels even spin from power.
Third, he must have the PSM in the wrong setting for the rear wheels to just spin in place like that. He should have tried with the PSM off, then with it on. Which brings me back to my first point, that guy is a putz.

And where is Dock? He can watch his theory of rear weight being the ultimate key to traction go up in smoke, literally.

Wanted to share with the group. Got new pilot sport ps2 today in stock size. The rears were available 2 months ago and were noticeably wider in appearance despite stock sizing. I went from 8 year old N1 to N3. I didn't photograph the rears...
But, after waiting 3 months (!), the fronts have come in. Produced 39th week of 2016. Got pics today. The treads are very different and so is the width. The old ones had a "stretched" look. New one has the sticker, obviously.

A friend was teasing me that my car was babied and that I baby my cars aswell, probably have the original factory tires on the car. Sure enough, checked and got confirmed by my shop and PC that it was on 12 year old tires.
Have new PS2 N3 on now, huge difference.

My Hakkapeliitta 7 studded were getting a little old. Nokian doesn't make the rears in the Hakka 8, so I had to get Hakka 7 for the rear and Hakka 8 for the front.
Sizes are:
Front - 225/40-18 at 25.1 diameter
Rear - 255/35-18 at 25.0 diameter

Question: In the video above posted by Rick Brooklyn is it possible that the smoke we are seeing is from a torched clutch, as opposed to the viscous coupling? It does look a lot like one of the numerous videos you can find of some knuckle head roasting his clutch while trying to show off (usually in Dad's Corvette).
It is definitely curious that the front wheel never slip an iota, especially on that super slippery wet grass.

How do you figure? It's a C4S according to the description. And the front grill looks like a c4s also, although it is a bit blurry it still looks like it. Can't see the rear of course to confirm.

I ended up getting Blizzack WS80...255/35/18 rears and the car is transformed in snow performance. Thank god, since we've received over 20 feet of snow in January!
