The ashtray was replaced with something called a 'non smoker kit' or non smoker shelf' depending on the translation. It's a factory part, and in fact I got the entire console with the ashtray replacement as a factory-painted NOS part on eBay.
Off topic a bit: I'm working on a modified version that expands the opening, eliminating the rear switch positions. Just finishing the model and then will scan and 3D print a prototype.

Update: back on the market. Can no longer stand not having a convertible.
Added a COBB Accessport V3 since last year and reverted to stock wheels. Went to a more aggressive chin spoiler. Added LED tail lights, but still have the originals. Car now has new Sumitomos, new brakes, refinished (no longer pink) front calipers and just turned 50K miles on the odo. Miles will accumulate as I drive it a bit on weekends.
SOLD

It was beyond awful. I hesitated for months on the car and consulted my friendly Porsche Master Tech who told me an interior swap took a bit of time, but he'd done 3 previously (at the dealership). Oh, did I mention it was not only beige, but had the 'large wood' package, too?

its great that a person can swap out the interior. good thing about a 911, your not really worried about an occasional rattle or what not from a missed clip or snap. but I assume all you can hear is the exhaust anyway. you probably wouldn't want to swap out an Merc. S class interior for example.
Then again, you could have wrapped it in ruby red? to go with the interior better? who knows.

And the reason I used a Porsche Master Tech was that I didn't want a missed snap or clip!

Yes. I had to send the original to the programmer and he duplicated and documented it. Very high integrity guy, Seems virtually no one can set miles after a few hundred have accumulated on a new one, and I wasn't (still not) in the income bracket to buy new.
