Default NT-01 Tire Life

Here's what over 7k miles and 10+ track visits looks like.

Some people may be hesitant to run R comps on the street. In Seattle it is questionable some days, just have take another car when you know it's going to **** all day. I have a couple sets of wheels with NT-01's and ran these last summer, then took them off to run a fresh set in fall for possible wet conditions. Newer ones are fine in the wet as long as you remember what tire you're on, their temperature, and respect the conditions.

I had them flipped inside out, ran them a couple more times at the track and many street miles this summer to cords.

They get better at the track as they get more like slicks, until you get right near the end and then they get greasy easy.

Had great success with them on my Audi TT track car as well since they came out. Great review! On a square wheel setup I can get 10-15 track days without issue and 3-4k miles.

especially when the tread is low you don't need to flip them on the rims just use the left on the right side. Even with tread the only difference in direction occurs in the rain. Great tires.

I think you missed his reason for that, if you look at how his tires wore he was flipping them on the same side/wheel vs. just passing them from left to right side would not change how the inside/outside of the tires would wear. His intention (assuming here is always dangerous, but I believe I'm on the right track) was to allow the inside worn area to take a break and pass the less worn outside to the inside.

I figured I'd give flipping them on the wheel a try set since I use them on the street and figured I'd avoid cording the insides just "driving around".

Pacific Raceways has mostly hard left turns which eats up the right side more too. Typically I flip the wheels/tire combo side to side every couple sessions.

I just put on a newer set last night so it will be interesting to see how they wear in comparison. Took a pic of these to compare later.

Curious to this as well - im guessing once they are getting close to slicks it doesnt matter.

not so much for the tread pattern, but the way the cords are layed out internally for structural integrity.

I'm surprised you got that many miles out of them.

They are NOT directional, unless it's raining!
The grooves are there for water evacuation.

Here's what it says on Discount Tire's site:
The NT-01 is a D.O.T. approved competition radial with an asymmetrical, non-directional tread pattern optimized for dry racing conditions. Beginning with a tread depth of 6/32", the NT-01 can be shaved to 4/32" to reveal a "slick" tread surface with two circumferential tread grooves. The NT-01 features a racing-inspired tread compound formulated for on-track performance to deliver extreme cornering power for fast and consistent track times.

Totally fine/safe to flip them, I researched it and asked a local race/DE prep shop too. Turn 1 over 150mph and into very had braking for a fast left hand turn 2...not a good area to run out of tire.

Digress... SO glad I had Copans put in a LSD, makes all the difference under braking/trail braking, especially in this part of the track!

Me too, although when you talk to others at the track who run them, you'll find similar opinion regarding wear and street-ability.

I could get less out of them, but nobody should be driving like that on the street. 30 MPH signs look a lot like 80 if you want them too...

Here's what 2 full open tracks days look like on a e92 M3 running Nto1's.

Looks like someone had fun.
I've been thinking of an e92 for a daily replacement, any thoughts on those from you?
