On wet roads they are fine when fairly new and warm, just can't be a lot of standing water.

I have a nice set of fronts 235 40 and a few 315 30 rears if anyone is looking for some spares - all have 2014, 2015 and 1 2016 date code
4 of these are pending sale but good amount of heat cycles left in the rest. PM if interested can text exact pictures

Thanks all for the brilliant pics and feedback on your Nittos guys. Gives me more confidence to run them to the cords and maybe even flip them on the rims now and again.
Someone here like Powdrhound may have hard data that proves me wrong but I don't think age (versus heat cycles) seems to matter as much with these NT01s as it might with some other rubber. Four year old NT01s (well they will be in 5 weeks anyway) just helped win our local Porsche Club Autocross this weekend. And this time last year - when they were three like these offered ones - we were trading lap times with a couple of 991 GT3s on MPSC2s and a Cayman R (on Trofeo Rs I think) to finish second in a four race series at our Club circuit sprints. I wouldn't go using them for One Lap of America maybe, nor run them another three years, but I'm picking they'll still have lots to offer. I just wish used ones were as easy to find down here...

PS. Just noticed that please save me can be seen as PSM, lol didn't even think about it at first.

Thanks Carlo. She is a tiptronic, yes. UMW's stock 1 BAR tune, exhaust etc but original K16 turbos, original ROW shocks (the dealer workshop wonders why the bump stops have died), original wheels, stock exterior and interior. Less than USD 5K in upgrades, labour included. I only manage a few track days a year with her (mostly competitions) but give her about 7000 road miles annually though, so she's optimised for that really (eg I added weight back in after the exhaust went on in the way of 10 pounds of DynaMat to kill the resonance).
Wasn't expecting to win the club's autocross so had only taken her driver's foot mat out and thrown on those old NT01s, leaving the interior, spare wheel etc in place. But I love hunting our limit and on Saturday that worked out. Left the event fairly confident of a top three placing but when the compiled results came out later I'd narrowly edged out a GT4 pedalled by a well-known racer who won our national Porsche Racing Series back in 2014. Field included another GT4, a 991 GT3 dual-entered by more experienced drivers (sharing the car across different run groups), other 996 and 997 Turbos, and a modded 996 GT3 that unfortunately retired early. Excited to win: you bet!
As for racing a Tip, there may be better ways to go about it, but I generally leave her in auto and use the wheel shifters and gas pedal as needed to force earlier downchanges or hold a gear (well drop back down on an unwanted upshift). Always PSM unplugged, and usually ABS disabled too (faults off within a corner or two on mine, but I like her raw). To get the best out of her I assist/accommodate her shifts at the pedals and the wheel in much the same way as I do when racing a manual.
Those club circuit sprints last year were part of the NZ Festival of Motor Racing, held over two consecutive 3-day weekends. A cracked coolant expansion tank took her out of the last race but we'd done enough in the earlier races to finish second overall. Porsche brought out some very nice gear and drivers for that festival and I enjoyed shaking compatriot Brendon Hartley's hand to congratulate him on his then-recent 2015 World Endurance Championship season win in their 919.
Back on topic though, it is just a pity that Nittos are expensive and hard to get down here as they are ideal for my purposes and budget. Stateside Rennlisters sure have it good on that front!

I'm pretty picky when it comes to tires. I love the NT01s for their bang for the buck but I get rid of them at the 12-15 cycle point when they start falling off. A few years back I had a set of mid life NT01s which I kept on the car while in winter hibernation in my garage. My garage has insulation so the temps got down to the 40s on several occasions but never below freezing. When I tried the tires at the track in the spring they were absolutely useless, but what's useless to me may still be decent to others. It's all relative. No matter what, the performance of the tires dropped drastically. I think how the tires are stored plays a large part how long they will last. 60-90F in a dark plastic bag would be my preference. Just my $0.02. YMMV..
Having seen old Pirellis turn to rocks, I am as surprised as anyone that my Nittos are still doing as well as they are. For all I know a new set might have a second or more on mine, but they aren't embarassing me yet. Their dimples are still showing though, so they probably haven't reached those 15 heat cycles. I need to get them out more.
