I've been thinking of an e92 for a daily replacement, any thoughts on those from you?
Absolutely a beautiful car for a DD. I have a 335 and it does everything I ask it.
You want to go like stink? Corner on rails? just cruise comfortably?
It does it all without skipping a beat.

I usually have to change mine out every other oil change. I've ran them to what you pictures before and it started to rain. Needless to say I'll never wear them down that far again.

A lot depends on the track surface. I can get 40-50 heat cycles out of Nitto's at my home track which is pretty easy on tires (Mid Ohio) but I can go to a more abrasive track and cord a set in a single weekend. Overall I think they are the perfect DE tire and the perfect tire to learn on as they can take abuse but love slip angle.

The only drawback is they aren't as fast as other r-compounds...but we're not out there to win at DE we are there to learn.

My buddy was storing his wheels at my warehouse as I transported them back & fourth to the track in my truck.
I have driven plenty e92's, for a daily driver the 335i is a fantastic car that you can make easy easy horsepower for cheap compared to 996tt prices. If you're going to track it I would go with the M3 as you're head of the game with the suspension and brakes, etc...

NT01s after 5 track days which amounts to 20 heat cycles and 452 miles on a smooth track. I find that after 15 HCs the performance drops off rapidly and by 20 HCs they are useless. I usually get rid of them after 15 HCs.

What other r-compounds do you consider to be faster than NT-01s?

Pretty much all of them besides an 888 which is total garbage. NT01s while not fastest are plenty quick and give you the best bang for the buck. A Kumho V710 is a second or so faster for example but I only get 8 HCs out of them before they are done. It's all about economics..

To be fair, you are possibly the most demanding driver that could use an NT01 on the face of this earth and are probably running 997 cup times on full slicks with your NT01 setup......

Mere mortals like myself feel no discernable drop-off in grip and they last for over 10 WEEKENDS on our BMWs.

Thanks, but you're giving me too much credit, me thinks. I am pretty brutal on tires however, that's for sure. Here's a few laps from this past Friday at the pre NASA race weekend warm ups. I'm on 20 HC 275/335 NT01s and it was literally like skating on ice. I could barely get lateral 1.0Gs when I normally see 1.4-1.5G or so. The tires had zero grip and were 5 seconds off the times of a fresh set. It was really a chore to keep the car in check at the limit but fun at the some time, a bit like tracking in the rain. Good practice..

Looks like lap 4 had a few squirrelly moments... I didn't see anyone pass you either.

How bad depends on how much standing water and how much "tread" left on the tire. Even with full tread standing water over half an inch deep will cause major hydroplaning even if you are simply driving in a straight line.
