Is the 911 the most modified car ever.
I am new to the forum but have worked in the auto industry for the last fourty years and it has struck me that i dont believe that i have ever seen a model more modified than the 911. Certainly since the eighties at least.
Do you think this is the wish of Porsche as a revenue raiser or just the fact that the base is so understressed. Considering that we all thought that the factory did a brilliant job already

Of just Porsche models? 911 for sure. Of all cars not by a long shot. Just too many other car models, like the mustang that have long production runs and have many more produced each year. IMHO

Man I don't know. Seems like everyone that owns a P car has modded it and 911s go waaaaay back. The 944 turbos...to see one that isn't modded is like seeng a unicorn. So many track cars made out of the boxster and caymans, etc.

Not even close - just pick any Japanese model favored by the younger generations - I don't think there is a single unmodified 300zx, WRX, Civic, RX8, Supra, Evo - the list goes on forever. The relatively high price of the 911, plus the much lower production numbers, takes it out of the running.

Definitely not, I think Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, Civic, Evo/WRX, GT-R all have us beat. There is also Supra and M3

That being said, I love my lightly modded 911 Turbo...more than any Mustang I've ever owned!

I've looked at a bunch of turbos over the last few years and I would say roughly half have very significant cosmetic and/or power modifications. Even cars the look bone stock often have ECU and exhaust mods. Now to be fair, if you add in the NA cars then you will find many more unmolested daily drivers. But just taking the turbos into account, I would guess there is probably no other production car with as high a percentage of heavily modded examples.
