Default Fuel Pump Install

I figured since this topic cam up several times a couple weeks back, I'd post additional photos for those it may help. 1 hour 6 minutes from first pic to last, so it is a good DIY to keep you from being parked on surprise. Mine was preventative as recommended/insisted buy Kevin after upgrading to his ZC turbos and fuel system. Thanks to the post on here or 6sp where I got another diy on the same. Note the "special tools" for black ring removal, battery disconnect, and tank near empty. Other than that, the most useful pic is one with mirror in tank on clips on back of pump that slide OUTWARD. I used a wire to keep one of the lines from falling back in tank while disconnected.

I had a couple questions on this DIY so here it is again.
Not sure if the fuel filter is more of a hassle or this...

When I remove the fuel line with the green release it pumps fuels through at a high pressure and never stops. The other 2 lines remove with no problem.

Battery is disconnected, fuel tank is low, electrical connector is disconnected and gas cap is off. Am I missing something?

Is there a written step by step anywhere? Does a new pump come with all new the pick up hoses?

I ordered the Porsche replacement unit from Warehouse33 and received a Rennlist discount of 10%. Mine looked like the pictures above that Mhawk posted. All new lines, plastic housing assembly and motor.

Very easy install IMO. Disconnect battery. Let car sit to relieve fuel pressure. Remove cover over pump assy. Remove 3 fuel lines and electrical connector. Unscrew the black plastic ring. (You can buy a special tool but I used HUGE channel locks) Lift fuel gauge and float assy and disconnect wires. Reach in the tank and disconnect fuel lines on right and left side of the motor assy. (You squeeze the connector and it slides off pretty easily) Turn motor assembly (counter clockwise I think) and the assembly lifts straight out. Reverse procedure to put back together.

Pay close attention to the direction of the fuel gauge float. It’s a good idea to mark it so the float has full movement. I got mine in a little wrong and the gauge in the dash would only go up to ¾ when it was full. I had to adjust it to get it right.

I am pretty sure one of my pick up hoses on the left or right side is split near the bottom. Did those hoses come with the new pump?

Honestly I’m not sure what is referred to as a pick up line. If it is the lines that are inside the gas tank that plug into the pump assy on the bottom left and right, they do not come with the assy. The lines that are attached to the top of the pump assy do come with it.

The pictures above show the old assy with old dark lines then the new assy with the new white lines.

Thanks. I am pretty sure I need the pick up hoses.

Anyone have a DIY on swapping those pick up hoses out?

LOL, yes, got that part. Just curious how to remove/undo the mounts that hold the pick ups to the bottom of the tank.
