My personal approach to photography is based in "realism", so I process with the objective of making the photograph look very close to what I was seeing through the lens when I took the picture. I try to "get it right in the camera" and rely on minimal processing to get the picture where it needs to be. Careful attention to all the sliders is critical, especially when attempting to correct a portion of a picture that has an underexposed area. Unless I'm working my artistic interpretations of a picture (for example processing everything to black and white except for the focal point of my picture), I personally want it to be very difficult for anyone to notice that I have done any processing at all.
It can take years to master Lightroom (and what for me seems to be a lifetime to master Photoshop). A good monitor that is properly calibrated really helps. I recommend spending time reading and watching tutorials, and practice, practice, practice.

AhAh, indeed the lighting and this Polar Silver Metallic is very tricky to capture. This particular photo as a filter applied to it which I can exaggerate the natural - almost hue shifting - Color!
It's a pretty unusual color which I have not seen many of, it has a very light bluish hue to it which depending on how the light hits the car it can be more or less intense. I love it.

Lightroom is a great, but it takes study and work to use it to produce quality pictures. Of course if edgy and/or high high dynamic range (HDR) results are the objective for a specific picture, Lightroom can certainly produce that image. But if a natural looking image is the objective, it takes careful application of the processing tools.
