Looking for a high mileage DD. Pitfalls
#33
I was at my mechanic the other day and saw a black 996T that was in for a water pump. The GM told me that the owner was interested in selling it, and I ended up purchasing it. Black/Gray with 110,000 on the clock. Father first owner, son was second owner - so a single family ownership. All records from delivery including window sticker are with it. Has had new Bilsteins, clutch, filters and plugs in last 5,000 miles. I'll probably drive it for a few weeks and then list it as I'm keeping room for a 964 open in the garage. PM if any interest and I'll keep you posted.

I purchased my turbo with 32k on the clock, and it was a no stories, all maintenance, every receipt from new car. The level of documentation was specific down to every quart of oil put in the car. PPI was flawless, and three monts later I had the fuel pump go out, and then the alternator die.... Sometimes now matter how "perfect" the car is, things will break and this car is no exception. That being said, I love every minute of ownership of this car, and only a GT3RS would pluck it from my garage. With the RS pricing right now, that is not going to happen any time soon :-) Ohio is too hard on cars in the winter time to DD the turbo unless you have a high mileage one and dont really care if every bolt on the car turns to rust.

I really appreciate all of the insight and feedback. I have not bought a car yet. A few have been offered with a "dirty" title. I would prefer a no stories car. Also I prefer a coupe and 6 speed.
