Light Savers for Rear Turbo Tail Lights
5 Attachment(s)
I just got my Light Savers from "Engineerboy100 Your Car Care Companion [porschetaillight@gmail.com]"
I am pretty happy with them. If your tail light mounting tabs are cracked and or missing like mine were these can save you $$. They fit great and look better then the metal reinforcements that I made. I found that putting the top screw in first made it easier to mount them. To make sure that there was clearance I slid his business card between the engine cover and LS after mounting them, so mine had at least 0.15" clearance. We will see if that is enough. If not it looks like the bracket can be adjusted in the fender. |
The look good.
How do I order a pair? Paypal to his e-mail address? Cost? |
i have a set as well. just need my car back from vegas to install them! :)

How do I order a pair? Paypal to his e-mail address? Cost? I figured it was a gamble, like a kick starter campaign, if he never got it right it was some $$ for his effort, if it went well good for me. And everyone else with cracked/broken mounting tabs. I just got them today. With a note that said that he was going to put something about the prerelease/first release offer up on eBay? |

Cheers, Found it https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...-points-3.html |
a thread like that on the 996TT forum?!?! ;)
IIRC he started his own thread, and deleted as he wasn't a sponsor.. but could be wrong... Either way, Ill probably buy up a few sets if he allows the RL price... Cheers! |
Tabs are 86 shipped.

"Don't worry about missing the sale, any long standing member here will be give the $29.95 price even after the promotion period. It's my way of giving back to the forum for all the years I have received help with different car problems." |
I'm not crazy! lol, was sure I remembered a "RL' price... thanks for posting the quote
If still honouring that offer, I'll take 3 sets...RL PM + Paypal? Cheers, Rob

There is a thread on Renntech post 28 & 29 talk about the discount release.
http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...-points/page-2 |
From $30 to $80 huh. Got to love that porsche tax...
At $30 this sounded great. At $80 I'll continue with what I have. |
I'll take a set at 30 as well.
|
I have no problem with there being a fair profit margin(remember its small market/volume), that IS BUSINESS...but promising a price means promising a price....
for me at this time....3 at $30, 0@80

Easy to buy a set at $30...but to see it jump from $30 to $80. Impressive.
Guess I"ll keep an eye on this thread. |
Meanwhile l did this to stop the cracks from getting worse.
I drilled a couple of small holes in the base of the lights and secured with zip ties through the holes that were already there in the body work, works just fine https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...bafc0acc74.jpg |

saw them on ebay, wanted 3 sets (out of the 13 available...) but didn't want to take away from many others here who could use them....I'll wait for the Rennlist price to be honoured.
|
Waiting for a way to purchase at the Rennlist price.

didn't mean it to come across that way, but thanks Jim :)
not to sound like an a$$ but it's just a shame that only 13 sets were made available after the initial hype and promise...but I'm sure everyone else will just wait for the promised RL price :corn: I don't need any but have a few 6TT/GT2's that could benefit long-term.. Cheers, Rob

Very considerate of you as usual Rob. My rennlist price was honored and they're on their way.

I also dont mind a fair profit. However 30 isnt a sale price compared to 80. Either 30 is a small attempt to honor the original promise knowing that costs are higher than anticipated and he is losing profit, or there is a profit margin so huge I simply can live without it. Its not as if my lights are falling off right now after all.
|
Got mine today, even though i used a 2part epoxy to fix the lights, used these to reinforce the repair. They fit fine, and do as advertised.
|
He is doing the $29.95 ($35 shipped) through today, Friday 25March2016. I contacted him yesterday about the Rennlist offer. These are relisted on eBay at $79.95 but you is not doing the Best Offer tab even though it got into the relisted parts after the original listing.
|
How do we get hold of him to get the $30 price today?
|
They are $64.95 on Ebay plus $5 shipping

You can order at Rennlist price at any time, just send $29.95 Plus $4.95 Shipping to Porschetaillight@gmail.com and I will ship out parts. If you order more than one, you only need to pay shipping once.
Clint Nice job by you Clint for making it clear to everyone. I received my pair yesterday and look forward to installing them tonight. Once the queue dies down, I'll probably order another set just to have an extra. |
Just ordered mine. Didn't think i needed them until i was replacing my spark plugs and the left taillight came off with my bumper.
|
Thank-you for extending your offer Clint
Will order up later today. Regards, Rob

Arrived today. Thanks again Clint.

Same shipping price to Canada?
|
Got mine today and installed them already. Thanks Clint!

Got mine, fit isn't that good. The trunk touches at the bottom. Made some modifications to the back but still overall too thick for my liking. It's 1/8" think molding, should be 1/4". I gave Clint some feedback, might try the metal ones if they're thinner.

That adjustment is for adjusting the light body itself. This is just a piece of plastic that sits on top of the original mount, which is sitting on the body, all you'd be doing is lowering the tail light. BTW.. I actually have these and when I installed them have the same issue. |

I actually have these and when I installed them have the same issue. All you need is the light to sit 1/16" below the body line for clearance. One of my lights was set at that level by the factory. The other I adjusted myself. It is not even noticeable. |

By adjusting these the lights with the light savers sit almost exactly as they did without the light savers. The lights sit exactly like they should. |
I adjusted my lights a bit but wanted to keep them flush with the body, deck lid, and bumper. Light savers are still touching the deck lid slightly at the bottom.

Porsche sets it lower to stop that loud whistle that can happen when they are even. My lights were already lower then the recessed fender lip. I thought that might be for the same reason as the frunk hood. |

Decently fast delivery to Europe, but why the feck has the value of goods been set to $400?
Ended up paying double the price due to VAT and duty... https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...3de7c21b09.jpg |

^^^Clint is a good man.

I purchased the Light Saver for my C4S and I'm also having fitment issues with the bottom of the trunk touching the LS. I tried removing the lights and dropping down the light mounting brackets per the video. I also raised up the trunk bump stops as much as possible (raise them too much, and the lid won't latch closed).
Right now, I think I have the right light's mounting brackets dropped as low as possible and the LSs still touch the bottom portion trunk when closed -- as in, I can't even slide a credit card through the gap. I'm going to fiddle more with the mounting brackets to see if I can get more clearance, but right now, I'm a bit frustrated at what I expected to be a 10 minute install. :banghead:

mine fit pretty good on my turbo, but of course that is a different lid.
