I guess every car is a bit different
With 235/40/18 on OZ racing wheels I bent front liner brackets and heat molded liners, created a bit more space but it was still just touching at full lock on right side only. So I'm guessing larger tires will rub on my car.

Interesting, are you running stock suspension?

I'll post up pics when we get it all set up.

I'm on PSS10's at lowest specified height. My rubbing is at the front section of the liner at full lock and only on the right side.

Got it. The PSS10s change everything.

That's interesting and I wonder why my right front 235/40/18 tire is touching the front part of the liner.

I may not be at the bottom of the height range for the PSS10 so that could be the difference. Mine came with the right look height wise and after replacing lots of pieces with monoball/solid links and adding camber I like the handling so I won't be messing with height until I switch to a remote canister system.

Ok, very good. Sounds like you're on top of things.

I'm sure the 335's do, just tire availability seem to be getting worse/more specific...us 911 owners need to bug the tire companies more for tires that meet load rating needs...
By far the biggest 996 issue is brake bias, esp. at street temps....need 997 or better bias ASAP...wish Cup ABS was CAN/street-ok, if hydraulic bias was 'right' I'd consider just pulling the fuse on stock ABS street/track...PFC pads aren't disc-nice, esp when cold, but they are nice and consistent when 'on'
I think a 255/315 combo with better/997 brake bias will be king for my usage

None of this is visible from the outside obviously. Braking will be amazing for sure. I know I'm gonna be going through rotors like crazy with this set up as the Cup ABS already eats rotors at an alarming rate. Ugh...

Rob, just throw the 997GT PCCB rear calipers on and the larger 997 master cylinder and call it a day. Problem solved...

You know it John... Soon as the current 11's are 'gone' back there, it's caliper/MC time
Cheers,

I snagged a set of 997 Cup calipers - smaller pistons than the street cars. I will have to do some calculations to see what the bias is with the stock 996 rear calipers and with 997 street calipers. I will be running 380mm discs.

As I posted in my build thread, radiator clearance is one of the next issues I have to tackle. I have 19" OZ Ultraleggeras with 235s at the moment and it just fits. But I will likely be moving to 245s and widening the track to take advantage of the additional space I have with the RS flares.

Timing for this thread could not have been better! Thanks Pwdr

Steve,
997Cup calipers have the same piston sizes as the 997.2GT3 (380mm) calipers, 28/30/32. The Cup calipers do not have any dust boots. Rears are 34/34.

You will NOT want to run the 7Cup/GT3 calipers with the 996 rear calipers. The 996 calipers are way too small (28/30) with almost 50% less piston area. I tried it several years back. Bias is horrible. You need the 997 rears along with the 997 master cylinder.

Cheers!

That clears things up a little for me. I was told they are cup calipers by the seller, but I was not completely convinced. When they arrived, the piston sizes matched the cup sizes. They have dust boots, tho, so it seems they are not cup calipers and my doubts are confirmed. Better for me anyway, though, as I want to use the car on the street as well.
